On August 28, 91 children were screened at the Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in Ho Chi Minh City. After determining the type of deformity and the children's ability to respond to surgery, the doctors continued to perform surgery on 72 children from August 29 to August 31, 2023. Children with more complex conditions and more post-operative complications will be scheduled for examination and surgery after the program, ensuring that every child will have the opportunity to regain a full smile.
Opening of humanitarian surgery program in August 2023
Since 2019, when launching the MoMo Heo Dat charity platform, MoMo has pioneered to become an important donation channel and a strategic partner of Operation Smile Vietnam. Through the MoMo charity platform, benefactors can donate to support surgery costs for children with facial deformities sought and sponsored by Operation Smile Vietnam.
As of August 2023, after nearly 4 years of accompanying, MoMo has accompanied Operation Smile Vietnam to successfully call for 34 million Golden Pigs through the form of walking and raising Golden Pigs to donate, nearly 700,000 cash donations, helping to bring a completely new look to 1,233 unfortunate children with cleft lip and palate in Vietnam.
According to the plan for the last 4 months of 2023, on average each month, the MoMo philanthropist community will donate 20 smiles in cash on MoMo Heart and by raising Golden Pigs for donors to convert into cash equivalent to 80 smiles for Operation Smile Vietnam's charitable surgery programs.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Phuong - Chief Representative of Operation Smile in Vietnam shared: "We are happy and honored to accompany MoMo in recent years to bring valuable humane contributions to the community. In the coming time, MoMo will still be one of the important partners of Operation Smile and especially in 2024, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the organization's presence in Vietnam, Operation Smile hopes to accompany MoMo in projects with third partners, bringing many smiles to patients and participating in projects and training courses to bring sustainable and long-term development to the Vietnamese health system".
MoMo has accompanied Operation Smile Vietnam for many years.
Since its inception, MoMo’s founders have believed that great little things, when put in the right place, can create miracles. With this belief, MoMo helps users embark on a journey of personal development by providing information and tools to better manage their personal finances with spending management products. MoMo also provides tools to help people share kindness and help others through the largest donation platform in Vietnam. Through the MoMo platform, people can donate by action or money from very small amounts like 1,000 VND. MoMo believes that the contributions of tens of millions of people will have the power to make a huge difference in the lives of less fortunate children.
Mr. Nguyen Hoanh Tien - Senior Deputy General Director, Head of Marketing and Distribution Solutions Business Unit at MoMo shared: “Once again, we see the connection between technology and the community. Through MoMo's technology platform, many philanthropists have participated in the program. An interesting thing is that MoMo's philanthropists are also very special people. They are housewives, women in their 60s and 70s, all participating in raising Piggy Banks to have Golden Pigs to donate to charity programs.
In this program alone, there have been more than 100,000 donors. Each contribution, no matter how small, combined together makes a miracle, helping many children regain their full smiles. We believe that if we continue to join hands, we will bring more smiles to children across Vietnam."
MoMo Piggy Bank is currently the most popular online charity platform in Vietnam with nearly 9 million users. The Piggy Bank community has also had many years of collaboration and work with prestigious fundraising partners in many fields in Vietnam such as Operation Smile, VinaCapital Foundation, Thien Nhan Fund and Friends, Saigon Children Charity, Strength 2000, Nuoi Em…. |
