Opening of the Conference of Industry and Trade of the Northern provinces and cities 2025

Attending the conference were leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade , leaders of Tuyen Quang province; representatives of Departments, Offices, Institutes and related units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Tuyen Quang Department of Industry and Trade, related Departments and branches; Departments of Industry and Trade of northern provinces.

The 11th Conference of the Industry and Trade Sector of the Northern Provinces and Cities in 2025 took place in a competitive atmosphere to celebrate major holidays (80 years of August Revolution and National Day September 2; 74 years of Traditional Day of Vietnam Industry and Trade Sector); at the same time, aiming to summarize 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien delivered the opening speech at the conference.

This is an opportunity for localities to exchange management experiences, discuss solutions to overcome difficulties, promote industrial production, develop trade, complete tasks in 2025, the 2021-2025 period and contribute to the overall development of the country.

The Northern region after administrative arrangement includes 15 provinces and cities ( Hanoi , Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Phu Tho, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh), with an area of over 150 thousand km2 and a population of nearly 45 million people.

This is the political , cultural, scientific and technological center of the country, and also the gateway for international trade with China, Laos and the region. The diverse terrain, from plains, midlands, mountains, coastal areas to islands, along with rich resources, creates favorable conditions for the development of agriculture, industry, hydropower, tourism, border trade and logistics. The abundant and increasingly high-quality labor force is the foundation for the region to become an important growth driver of the whole country.

With the strong direction of the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and local leaders; the close coordination of all levels and sectors and the proactiveness and efforts of enterprises to overcome difficulties, industrial and commercial activities in the Northern region in 2024 and the first 9 months of 2025 achieved many positive results, continuing to affirm its role as a growth locomotive.

In 2024 and the first nine months of 2025, the world and domestic economies will experience many fluctuations: conflicts, natural disasters, and trade protection policies will increase production costs, affecting import-export and industrial production. However, Vietnam is still considered a safe destination, attracting large FDI, especially in the fields of high technology and renewable energy.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien chaired the conference.

Domestically, businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, are still facing difficulties in capital, orders and labor, and domestic purchasing power is recovering slowly. However, with the strong direction of the Government and local authorities, many support mechanisms and policies have helped stabilize the macro-economy and maintain growth.

In general, despite many challenges, the Industry and Trade sector in the Northern region has promoted its advantages, proactively adapted, and continued to make important contributions to socio-economic development. At the same time, it has affirmed its role as the driving force for growth of the whole country in the process of industrialization, modernization and international integration.
