With more grassroots unions, Hai Phong workers have more support.

Leaders of the City Labor Federation visited and talked with workers of GPN Automotive Company Limited.

This is a great effort of Hai Phong city's trade unions at all levels, contributing to strengthening the organization and better protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.

New business, union soon present

The establishment of the Trade Union of GPN Automotive Co., Ltd. (a 100% Chinese-owned enterprise in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park) in August 2025 is one of the clear evidences of the effort to bring the Trade Union to the newly operating enterprise early. It is known that the above company officially operated from June 2025. Only 1 month later, with the guidance of the City Labor Federation, the Company's Trade Union Establishment Committee was established, propagating to workers about the role of the Trade Union and the rights and obligations of union members. As a result, 100% of workers at that time voluntarily wrote applications to join the Trade Union. Up to now, after more than 1 month of establishment, the number of union members of this enterprise has increased by 55 people, reaching 133/187 workers, of which 9 union members are foreign workers.

Deputy Director of GPN Automotive Co., Ltd. Wang Mao Ling said that in the current development stage, the company aims to improve the quality of human resources, build a strong corporate culture, improve technology, and expand market share. The establishment of the Union is an important resource to achieve the goal. The company's leadership is committed to closely coordinating with the grassroots union to promptly listen to and resolve arising issues in the spirit of dialogue, cooperation, respect and compliance with the law.

In September 2025, the City Labor Federation continued to establish a grassroots union at Global Material Handling Co., Ltd. (DeepC 2A Industrial Park) with 348 union members and Thien Muc Tools Co., Ltd. (An Phat High-Tech Industrial Park) with 77 union members. At these enterprises, workers want to join the Union to protect their legitimate and legal rights. The enterprise's leadership also sees the Union as a "bridge" to help establish harmonious and stable labor relations, thereby accompanying the enterprise in the long-term development process.

Leaders of the City Labor Federation presented the decision to establish and appoint the Executive Board of the Trade Union of GPN Automotive Company Limited.

Continue to expand and strengthen the organization

Along with the establishment of grassroots unions in new enterprises, from the beginning of the year, the City Labor Federation focused on developing union members, establishing grassroots unions and grassroots trade unions. In particular, it requested the Social Insurance agency to provide information on units, enterprises, and the number of employees participating in social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance in the area to propagate, mobilize, and assign targets for developing union members, establishing grassroots unions, and collecting union finances for units.

Some commune, ward and special zone trade unions have also had effective ways of doing things, such as the Hong Bang Ward Trade Union, which mobilized the establishment of 3 more grassroots trade unions with 824 union members in August. According to Chairman of the Ward Trade Union Do Thanh Phuong, the ward trade union officials made the most of their working relationships and proactively went to each enterprise to mobilize and support the enterprise in implementing legal regulations. The ward trade union also organized visits and gave gifts to enterprises that had implemented well the regimes and policies for employees and enterprises that did not have a trade union during the Mid-Autumn Festival and Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day (October 13), striving to establish 2 more grassroots trade unions in the last months of the year.

According to the Standing Vice President of the City Labor Federation, Head of the Industrial Park Trade Union Board (City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee) Nguyen Van Quyet, from now until the end of 2025, the Industrial Park Trade Union Board has set the goal of developing 10-15 more grassroots trade unions and admitting about 3,000-3,500 union members. The focus of mobilization is on FDI enterprises, units with a large number of employees and enterprises that have fulfilled their obligations to pay union fees but have not yet established a Trade Union. The City Labor Federation coordinates with the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board to organize conferences to meet with enterprises to directly propagate, remove difficulties, create consensus between the Trade Union, enterprises and workers, and promote the process of establishing grassroots trade unions.

The City Labor Federation also directed relevant departments and units to continue reviewing and urging the development of more union members in enterprises with trade unions. At the same time, mobilize union members in units using labor outsourcing services, arrange appropriate funding to promote union member development, and strive to complete the targets assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
