Candidates "received scholarships before being admitted", school urgently warns

(Dan Tri) - Many universities in Ho Chi Minh City have warned about the situation where candidates waiting for university admission results have received notice of winning scholarships.

International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has just issued a warning about fake admission announcements targeting candidates waiting for university admission results.

This school recorded that some candidates waiting for university entrance exam results received calls from a group of scammers threatening them mentally, slandering them about being involved in money laundering or drug trafficking cases in order to intimidate them mentally.

Then, the subjects provided fake documents announcing admission and scholarship and then instructed students to cheat their parents out of money and then transfer the money.

The school affirms that, currently, according to the admission schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training , International University as well as other universities are still in the process of processing admission data and have not yet announced the admission results or issued admission notices.

All relevant announcements are posted on the school's official website. Therefore, parents and students need to be extremely vigilant, absolutely do not listen to or follow requests from strange calls; do not make friends on Zalo, make video calls with strangers or people claiming to be authorities or reporting that relatives are in trouble without clear verification.

Whenever there is a request for money transfer, it is necessary to verify the information carefully and contact the school directly to check and verify the information.

Previously, the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) also issued a warning about scammers impersonating the school to send scholarship announcements to candidates.

The school informed that impersonators were spreading fake announcements with the title “Vietnam Young Generation Scholarship and University of Technology Sydney”, targeting candidates who have just completed their high school graduation exams and are waiting for university admission results in 2025.

The announcement is edited more professionally, adding more details about benefits and requirements, including personal information of candidates (full name, date of birth, CCCD), using the same domain email as the school to create trust.

A representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology confirmed that this was an announcement impersonating the school aimed at candidates during the time of preparing to announce the admission results and implementing the admission process for new students. They spread the fake announcements in many forms such as calling, texting, and sending emails confirming admission.

The school notes that students and parents need to be especially vigilant and carefully check information before providing personal data or making any financial transactions.

All registration and scholarship review processes for students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology are carried out on the system, via email and the school's official information channels.

Faculties, offices, and specialized departments will regularly update and disseminate information to students through common channels, not deploying or notifying each individual separately.

According to the plan, from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 20, schools will upload data and admission information of candidates including high school graduation exam scores, results of separate exams, high school study results... on the system and organize admission.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Training also processes the system to determine the highest wish among the wishes for which the candidate is eligible to be admitted.

By 5pm on August 20, schools will enter the admission scores and admission results into the common system. After review, the first round of admission scores will have to be announced before 5pm on August 22.

Thus, from the afternoon of August 20, universities will begin to announce the admission scores. The results of the first round of admission must be announced no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 22.
