Electronics and refrigeration market "heats up" with the weather

The prolonged heat waves in May and early June have increased the demand for cooling devices, making the electronics and refrigeration market in Thai Binh more vibrant.

Consumers are increasingly interested in learning about and purchasing cooling equipment that uses energy-saving, environmentally friendly technology.

Hot weather boosts purchasing power

At electronics supermarkets and electronics retail stores in Thai Binh city and in the towns of some districts such as Dong Hung, Tien Hai, Quynh Coi, Thai Thuy, the number of customers has increased significantly since mid-May - the time when the heat wave continuously exceeded 37 degrees Celsius. Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, Director of HC electronics supermarket, said: From the end of May until now, sales of air conditioners and electric fans have increased nearly twice compared to the previous month. On average, we sell more than 100 air conditioners and about 200 electric fans of all kinds each week.

It is easy to see that on hot days or weekends, many people go sightseeing and shop for electronic and refrigeration products. The demand increases not only in urban areas but also in rural areas, where people rarely use large-capacity cooling devices. Many electronics stores in communes of Vu Thu, Kien Xuong, and Hung Ha districts have increased their opening hours to sell to people. Some stores have to extend the installation time until night to meet the demand for air conditioners for customers to use in time during hot days.

According to records, the most consumed products include inverter air conditioners, refrigerators with energy-saving technology, rechargeable fans, air coolers, air conditioners and air purifiers. These are devices that are increasingly chosen by consumers to save on electricity costs and protect their health from the increasing smoke and dust pollution in both urban, industrial and rural areas.

Changing consumer habits

The market for electronics and refrigeration products this year has witnessed a clear shift in consumer product selection trends. Instead of choosing based on brand, function, and capacity of the device, people place importance on factors such as energy saving and environmentally friendly technology. Electronics and refrigeration products with inverter technology with low power consumption are accounting for the majority of orders. In particular, since May 10, when Vietnam Electricity Group adjusted the average retail electricity price to increase by nearly 5%, the trend of choosing solar-powered devices with rechargeable batteries has become more popular. The family of Ms. Vu Thi Ngoc Luong (Ky Ba ward, Thai Binh city) shared: Previously, my family installed 4 air conditioners with a cooling capacity of 9,000 - 12,000 BTU, old technology machines consume a lot of electricity. Recently, the price of electricity has increased, we have limited the use of air conditioners to reduce costs but found it too inconvenient. Therefore, we decided to buy a new air conditioner with energy-saving technology to replace the old one. Mr. Nguyen The Hoang in Dong Hung town (Dong Hung) went to buy a rechargeable fan using solar panels and said: The price of electricity has increased, in the hot season the demand for electricity increases leading to the risk of rotating power outages, this is the reason why I decided to buy a fan with a rechargeable battery. It is a solution to help my family be more proactive about the power source for daily life and avoid sudden increases in monthly electricity bills.

Another prominent trend is that young people prefer to buy in installments through banks or through e-commerce platforms that support consumer credit. However, at this time, the fear of counterfeit and poor quality goods makes many people still choose to buy directly at reputable stores. Mr. Tran Van Kien, a worker at a factory in Phuc Khanh Industrial Park (Thai Binh City) shared: During my break, I look online to check the models and prices of some refrigeration products such as fans and air conditioners, but when buying, I will go to the store because I feel more secure, I can see the products directly, and the warranty is clear. The cautious and pragmatic consumption mentality is strongly influencing shopping behavior, creating conditions for businesses that provide good quality products and thoughtful after-sales service to affirm their position in the market.

Ensuring supply and stimulating shopping

Early identification of market demand in the hot season, many supermarkets, stores and electronics distributors in the province have planned to import goods, stockpile and expand display space since the beginning of the second quarter. Some large supermarket and electronics stores in the province such as HC, MediaMart, Dinh Han, Anh Chinh... have increased the import of air conditioners and refrigerators; redesigned the sales space to make it easier for customers to access seasonal products.

In addition to proactively sourcing, businesses also implement promotional packages and support installment payments with 0% interest for 6-12 months, significantly attracting young customers and workers. A representative of MediaMart electronics supermarket in Vu Thu town said: We focus on importing many product lines under 8 million VND - best-selling products in the popular customer segment. Not only MediaMart, many supermarkets also implement attractive promotional programs, and at the same time apply additional policies to support transportation, accessories, and installation for customers to stimulate consumption.

The acumen of businesses in building seasonal sales strategies has contributed to stabilizing prices, avoiding shortages and local price fever. This year's electronics market, although bustling, has maintained good regulation thanks to abundant supply and an increasingly professional distribution system. Notably, to enhance the shopping experience and increase customer engagement, many electronics supermarkets in the area have proactively linked up with reputable technical centers to arrange a team of installers and maintenance workers to come to consumers' homes to support them immediately after purchase. This model not only helps shorten installation waiting time during peak seasons, but also creates peace of mind for consumers in operating equipment and contributes to maintaining a sustainable relationship between customers and businesses.

Although businesses and traders are committed to ensuring supply, they still advise customers to be "smart consumers". People should not rush to buy during the peak of hot weather, leading to the risk of local shortages and especially overloading the workforce for consulting, instructing on use, transporting and installing equipment. They should plan their purchases early, choose the right time to buy to enjoy the best services and attractive promotional policies. Consumers should only buy products with reputable brands, clear origins, transparent prices, long warranty periods and specific store addresses to avoid buying smuggled, counterfeit and fake goods, and avoid "losing money and suffering". Due to the strong increase in consumer demand, the group of electronics and refrigeration products is currently at risk of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. Authorities need to strengthen supervision, inspection and promptly handle violations to protect consumer rights and keep the market healthy and stable.

Many stores introduce and sell fan products using rechargeable batteries and solar energy to meet the current consumer needs.
