| Go! Supermarket receives 2 to 3 tons of fruits and vegetables daily, a five-fold increase compared to normal days. |
At Dong Quang market, the bustling atmosphere has returned with a wide variety of fresh and delicious goods displayed on stalls by vendors. Mr. Do Tuan Anh, a long-time vendor there, shared: "We have to quickly restock our vegetables and fruits to serve the people. But the vegetable supply in the province has been severely damaged, and the wholesale market in the Thai market area has only just resumed supplying. In addition, many vegetable growing areas in Thai Nguyen and Hanoi have been flooded and damaged, so vegetable prices have increased significantly."
Walking along the streets with markets, it's easy to see that water spinach, cabbage, and pork have all increased in price compared to before the floods. Vegetable prices have almost doubled, while pork and chicken have also gone up slightly. Not only fresh food but also cleaning supplies like brooms, mops, and buckets have all increased in price. These are items that people are urgently buying to clean their houses and repair the damage after the floods.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuong said: "Everyone has to clean their houses, so brooms and mops are selling out, and prices have increased from 70,000 to 200,000 VND per broom and mop. In some places, the price has doubled compared to normal days, but people have no choice but to pay extra for this."
In the days following the floods, people's lives remain difficult, and reduced income has created significant pressure. Ms. Duong Thi Lan, from the Minh Cau area, shared: "The floods have strained our family's finances , and the prices of vegetables and meat have increased, so we have to carefully budget every time we go to the market. Some days, buying just a few things costs nearly 400,000 VND, almost double what we used to spend."
Amidst fluctuating prices and challenging supply chains, supermarkets like Go!, WinMart+, and VinMart have emerged as bright spots. These chains not only maintain abundant supplies but also keep prices stable, making it easier for people to access goods at reasonable prices.
At Go! supermarket in Thai Nguyen , supplies are being prioritized from neighboring provinces to serve Thai Nguyen after the floods. Mr. Hoang Van Thu, Head of Sales, said: "On average, we import 2 to 3 tons of vegetables and fruits daily, five times more than usual, to meet the increased demand after the floods. In addition, the supermarket is implementing a 10% discount program on fresh produce every morning to support the people."
Ms. Nguyen Quynh Anh, from Group 46, Phan Dinh Phung Ward, shared: "After the flood, I found that the supermarket still had plenty of vegetables, fruits, and ready-to-eat food, and the prices were stable, not experiencing sudden price increases like at the market. Shopping here gives me more peace of mind during these difficult times."

| Businesses at Tuc Duyen market are making efforts to overcome the difficulties and resume trading. |
Besides vegetables, items such as instant noodles, bottled water, milk, and bread are also consistently supplied by supermarkets and stores, helping to alleviate concerns about food shortages in the community. The supply of gasoline and diesel fuel in the area is also stable, meeting the needs for transportation and goods delivery.
Although the market is gradually stabilizing, the consequences of the historic flood still weigh heavily on the people, small traders, and businesses. Many farmers suffered crop failures, and many small businesses and supermarkets were severely damaged. The preservation and transportation of goods also face many obstacles due to the incomplete restoration of infrastructure.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, a small business owner at Tuc Duyen market, said: "The flood caused significant damage to my shop, with losses of up to 3 billion VND. Immediately after the water receded, my family mobilized manpower to repair and clean up. We sorted the usable seafood and donated it to people in need. We hope for more mechanisms and policies to support affected businesses so that our family can repair our stall, restock, and reopen."
According to the head of the Department of Industry and Trade, although some markets and businesses were affected, the supply of essential goods remained abundant, and prices were basically stable. The coordination between businesses, small traders, and the government helped the market recover quickly and meet the needs of the people.
In addition, authorities are stepping up inspections of food hygiene and safety, controlling the origin of goods, and preventing price gouging to protect consumer rights.
