Alarm and fire alarm devices are interfered with, causing a series of smartkeys on cars and motorbikes to be "paralyzed".

The Regional Radio Frequency Center VII has just successfully handled a wave interference incident that caused a series of smartkey devices of cars and motorbikes around 23-10 Street (West Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province) to be unable to operate.

Since early September 2025, people living and working in the area around house number 874, 23-10 Street, suddenly encountered a problem. Smartkey devices mysteriously lost signal, unable to unlock or start the vehicle. When the vehicle was moved about 50m away from the area, the device worked normally again.

Mr. Hue, a local resident, recounted: “My car kept turning on and off, I thought it was broken, but after walking a short distance out of the area it started again. It was very confusing.”

Immediately after receiving the feedback, the Regional Radio Frequency Center VII sent a working group to the scene for inspection. Through measuring, analyzing the signal and eliminating each possibility, the group determined that the "culprit" was a wireless fire alarm device of a nearby business store with a technical error, continuously emitting signals on the 433.05 - 434.79 MHz band, coinciding with the operating frequency of the smartkey device.

“This device had a technical error, continuously emitting signals, creating an unwanted source of interference, making the smartkey unable to connect to cars and motorbikes. After we handled it, the signal returned to normal, and all vehicles were able to start,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Head of the inspection team.

Previously, the Center also handled 3 similar cases in Khanh Hoa province: Electronic anti-fence climbing devices of 2 households and remote water pump control devices of 1 household both had radiation errors, interrupting the operation of smartkey. Notably, most of the interference devices did not have a conformity mark and did not meet the technical and operational conditions as prescribed.

To ensure radio information security and avoid similar incidents, the Regional Radio Frequency Center VII recommends that organizations and individuals should only purchase and use radio equipment of clear origin, certified and labeled with conformity.

When encountering suspected interference, people need to quickly contact the Regional Radio Frequency Center VII (Group 6, Phu Thanh village, Tay Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province) or call the hotline 0862.92.92.92 of the Radio Frequency Department for timely support.

This incident once again shows the important role of frequency management in ensuring radio wave safety, contributing to protecting the normal operation of smart devices in modern life.
