| Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the certificate recognizing the knowledge of exploiting and processing agarwood in Khanh Hoa as a national intangible cultural heritage of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Van Thang Agarwood Cooperative. |
The Van Thang Agarwood Cooperative was established on December 15, 2020, with the goal of promoting the value of the agarwood craft village, creating jobs for members, and developing OCOP products. However, by the end of August 2025, the cooperative had not yet implemented substantial production and business activities. Specifically: the registered charter capital had not been fully contributed by members, leading to a shortage of resources; a stable production, processing, and product distribution system had not been established; no revenue, profit, or funds had been generated; and access to government support policies had not been achieved. The cooperative only maintained its legal status and operated at a minimal level, failing to achieve effectiveness.
The Second Congress of the Van Thang Agarwood Cooperative aims to comprehensively restructure the cooperative, marking a turning point in the transformation from handicraft production to modern business, preserving the cultural identity of the craft village while expanding the consumer market.
| The new Board of Directors and Supervisory Board of Van Thang Agarwood Cooperative were introduced at the general meeting. |
For the 2025-2030 term, Van Thang Agarwood Cooperative aims to standardize production and processing, applying standardized procedures for agarwood incense sticks, agarwood cones, bracelets, and other processed agarwood products; expand markets, build a multi-channel distribution system, develop e-commerce, and associate the Van Thang Agarwood brand with the Khanh Hoa agarwood geographical indication; develop community tourism , creating a "One Day as an Agarwood Artisan" tour, combining tea and coffee tasting, agarwood fumigation services, and health care.
Furthermore, the Van Thang Agarwood Cooperative will innovate its governance, strengthen its board of directors, and enhance the application of digital technology in management, marketing, and traceability. During the term, the cooperative aims for annual revenue of 10-15 billion VND; at least 7 OCOP products achieving 3-4 star standards, 1 product achieving 5-star OCOP; and members' income doubling compared to 2025. The General Assembly elected a new Board of Directors and Supervisory Board for the Van Thang Agarwood Cooperative with 6 members.
On this occasion, Van Thang Agarwood Cooperative received the certificate recognizing the knowledge of agarwood harvesting and processing in Khanh Hoa as a national intangible cultural heritage.
