According to the forecast of the Northern mountainous region's meteorological and hydrological station, Phu Tho province is still under the influence of a cold front. Many areas in the province are experiencing temperatures of 10-12°C, with some places below 10°C. However, a quick survey of the electronics market reveals that the demand for winter heating equipment is "cooling down," with slow sales despite the persistently cold weather.
Heating equipment is displayed in prominent areas at supermarkets and electronics stores.
Currently, the market offers a wide range of heating devices with diverse designs and functions to meet the different needs of consumers. Some popular products sold in supermarkets and electronics stores include: halogen heaters, infrared fan heaters, ceramic heaters, and oil heaters. Prices are quite reasonable, ranging from 300,000 VND to 3,000,000 VND per product depending on the type.
Despite attractive promotions and significant discounts, many customers remain indifferent to these items. Purchasing power has decreased compared to the same period in previous years. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, manager of Media Mart in Gia Cam ward, Viet Tri city, said: “Even though the heating equipment is displayed in prominent areas, sales are still slow this year. Sales of this item are only about 60-70 products per month. In previous years, this number was around several hundred products.”
The reason is believed to be that most people had already purchased heating equipment at the beginning of the cold spell. In addition, spring has arrived, and cold spells are predicted to gradually decrease, so demand has also decreased. Mr. Trieu Quang Hung, a sales consultant at Dien May Xanh store in Tan Dan ward, Viet Tri city, said: “Currently, heating functions are integrated into other devices such as two-way air conditioners. In urban areas, the trend is to install heating systems in new houses, so the demand for heating equipment is also trending downwards.”

Furthermore, fierce competition among e-commerce platforms has made it difficult for supermarkets and retail stores to sell heating equipment in particular, and electrical appliances in general. A survey of major e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, TikTok, Lazada, and Tiki shows that heating equipment is generally cheaper. The convenience of online shopping has made these platforms more popular with consumers.
Using heating devices helps protect health during the cold season. However, consumers need to be careful to choose quality products with clear origins and use them correctly to increase the lifespan of the equipment and ensure user safety.
