According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today (August 26), due to the influence of storm No. 5, areas across the country will have widespread thunderstorms, some places will have heavy to very heavy rain, accompanied by dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Last night and early this morning (August 26), the Northern Delta region and from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri had moderate to heavy rain; especially the region from Ha Tinh to Northern Quang Tri had heavy to very heavy rain. The rainfall from 7:00 p.m. on August 25 to 3:00 a.m. on August 26 was over 150mm in some places, typically: Thuong Tin station ( Hanoi ) 160.2mm; Huong Nhuong 2 station (Phu Tho) 157.8mm; Son Kim 2 station (Ha Tinh) 211.4mm; Dong Van station (Nghe An) 190mm; Xuan Khanh station (Thanh Hoa) 171.4mm.

Forecast of heavy rain in the next 24-48 hours: From early morning of August 26 to morning of August 27, the midlands and deltas of the North, Son La, Lao Cai will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with common rainfall of 60-120mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm.

On August 26, the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with common rainfall of 50-100mm, and locally very heavy rain of over 150mm.

In addition, during the day and night of August 26, other places in the North will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, with rainfall ranging from 15-40mm, locally over 80mm. In the Central Highlands and the South, there will be showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall ranging from 10-30mm, locally over 80mm, concentrated in the afternoon and evening.

Northwest: Cloudy, with rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain, especially in Son La and Lao Cai, with moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain; light wind; in thunderstorms there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind; temperature 21-29 degrees Celsius.

Truong Sa special economic zone (Khanh Hoa): Scattered showers and thunderstorms; tornadoes are possible during thunderstorms; visibility is over 10km, decreasing to 4-10km during rain; southwest wind level 5; in the west, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas; waves 2-3m high.
