Eid al-Fitr, or the Feast of the Breaking of Fasts, is one of the most important holidays for Muslims. It marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a time when Muslims fast, pray, and reflect, striving to become the best version of themselves, both spiritually and morally.
As Ramadan ends, Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Fitr with joy and to thank Allah for the strength to complete the month of fasting.

At the event, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Vietnam Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy gave an overview of Eid al-Fitr and its importance to Muslims as well as Saudi Arabian customs during this holiday.
Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy emphasized that Eid al-Fitr is one of the most important holidays in the Islamic calendar. It is a time of forgiveness, compassion and solidarity. Eid al-Fitr celebrations vary from country to country but include family reunions, visiting friends, praying together, giving gifts, enjoying parties, wearing new clothes and visiting the graves of loved ones.
On this occasion, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Vietnam also called for promoting the spirit of peace, coexistence and solidarity - common values of all humanity.
“Eid al-Fitr is a reminder that despite our differences, we share the hope of a future built on harmony and mutual understanding. As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, let us not forget the suffering of humanity in the midst of all the crises in the world. Let us pray for peace and stability, and demonstrate our commitment to compassion and tolerance so that all people can live together in harmony, regardless of their faith, race or culture,” said Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy.

Sharing about the Saudi Arabian Eid al-Fitr tradition, Aziz and Sara, the son and daughter of Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy, said that on the morning of the holiday, they wake up early, wear their new or best clothes, and then go to the mosque with their family to attend the special Al-Eid prayer ceremony. After that, everyone exchanges “Eid Mubarak” wishes, which means congratulating Eid al-Fitr, wishing happiness and blessings to friends and relatives.
The holiday is not only a time to enjoy delicious food and give gifts, but also a time to spend time with family, forgive others and spread kindness. In Saudi Arabia, cities are decorated with lights and many families go to parks, entertainment centers or take short trips together, creating beautiful memories with their loved ones.
One of the best parts of Eid al-Fitr in Saudi Arabia is sharing with others. Before praying, Saudis often give “Zakat al-Fitr”, or charity to the less fortunate, to ensure that everyone can celebrate Eid together.
“This is important because it reminds us of the importance of helping others and being grateful for what we have,” said Aziz and Sara.
According to Aziz and Sara, after praying, they visit their grandparents, uncles, and neighbors. Their homes are filled with delicious traditional Saudi food such as “Kabsa” and sweets such as “ma’amoul”. Children are especially happy during this time because they receive “Eidiyah” – small gifts or money from adults. Children use the money to buy toys or save for something special.
“Eid al-Fitr is truly a time of happiness, reflection and unity in Saudi Arabia. We cherish these moments because they bring us closer together and remind us of the blessings in life,” Aziz and Sara shared.
