Slow down to connect more deeply.

A survey by the French travel company Evazio on global travel trends for 2025 shows that travelers are focusing on higher-quality, longer, and more relaxed trips, emphasizing sustainability and mental well-being. Slow travelers view each experience as an opportunity to learn, explore, and deeply connect with the people, culture, and unique characteristics of their destination, enjoying the many unique travel values. This is also the fastest-growing trend in the past year.

Slow journeys are often associated with a small area, and slow modes of transportation such as hiking, cycling, or train allow you to savor each moment.

Instead of rushing between destinations according to a predetermined schedule, tourists can leisurely enjoy local life, wake up early to watch the sunrise, enjoy coffee at a small roadside cafe, visit a museum, and contemplate history and art.

Couples stroll together from morning till evening through every street corner and alley, admiring the beautiful little details of everyday life in a new place. By slowing down and focusing on each experience, tourists tend to be more relaxed and practical.

Based on the latest search data, the online travel platform Booking.com has just announced a list of the most popular destinations for Vietnamese and international tourists seeking "slow travel" at the end of the year. The results show a trend favoring locations with pleasant climates, rich cultural experiences, and attractive resort ecosystems. Coastal cities like Da Nang and Nha Trang maintain their appeal for relaxing holidays, while Hoi An and Sa Pa attract visitors who want to immerse themselves in local identity and characteristic festival atmospheres.

Slow living in Da Nang

According to data from Google Trends, searches for "slow travel" have tripled in the past five years. The site also suggests ideal destinations for leisurely strolls and exploring vibrant life, with Da Nang standing out for its myriad options for walking or cycling, from sprawling beaches and breezy riverside paths to lush green mountain landscapes.

As can be seen, Da Nang city has all the advantages to meet the needs of "slow tourism," with its harmonious nature, rich local culture and cuisine, friendly people, and relaxed lifestyle. During the transition period between winter and spring, the weather here is quite ideal, with cool air, gentle sunshine, and a slight chill in the early morning or evening, suitable for sightseeing and relaxing all day long.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, a freelance tour guide in Da Nang, currently, popular types of tourism include ecotourism, wellness tourism, exploring local culture, work-from-home tourism, and seasonal exploration trips such as cloud hunting and experiencing blooming flowers.

Kirubakaran Rajendran, a tourist from India, shared: “I traveled to Vietnam alone without any specific plans, simply choosing Da Nang as my destination. It turned out to be the most relaxing and memorable year-end holiday I’ve ever had. Da Nang offers something very different from the cities I’ve visited: a peaceful, gentle, authentic, and genuine beauty.”

Travel blogger Tran Thi Cam Ha (Ha Chan), from Phu Yen, spent an extended vacation in Da Nang to slowly enjoy the subtle transition between winter and spring. After more than a week leisurely exploring this livable city, she shared her memorable and peaceful experiences, like a journey of healing the soul amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life:

“In the early mornings, when the gentle sunrise filters through the thin, cool mist, I love strolling along My Khe beach, breathing deeply the fresh, salty breeze, and watching the locals leisurely begin their day with a relaxed walk and cheerful conversation. The aroma of coffee and tea from the cafes along the roadside invites you to sit down, even if only for a few minutes, to enjoy the slight chill of late winter and the warmth of the approaching spring sun.”

Ha Chan was also captivated by the bustling atmosphere of the city's traditional markets during this time. She spent the whole day wandering through Con Market, Han Market, and other small markets in local residential areas, where the spring atmosphere had already begun to permeate early, feeling the simple hustle and bustle of Da Nang people as the New Year approached. She didn't forget to buy a few boxes of ginger jam and sesame cakes as gifts, gifts of small joys wrapped up, of the cold winter days carried into spring, of gentle warmth.
