Agree on the plan to transfer functions and tasks of Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Magazine

On the morning of July 9, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee chaired and coordinated with the Editorial Board of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper and the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Association to organize a working session to implement the transfer of information and propaganda functions and tasks of the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Magazine.

The meeting was chaired by Comrade Tang Huu Phong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. Attending the meeting were comrades: Nguyen Khac Van, Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper; Hoang Van Nghia, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Association; Phan Gia Hoai, former Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of the City Veterans Magazine; and representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Organization Board and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Office.

The transfer is based on Decision No. 1247 dated February 15, 2023 on the establishment of Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Magazine; Project No. 02 dated June 25, 2025 of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee and Decision No. 3389 dated June 27, 2025 of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee on the dissolution of this public service unit.

At the meeting, delegates agreed on the plan to transfer all functions and tasks of the Magazine to two receiving units: Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper and Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Association.

Specifically, Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper received and reorganized part of the information and propaganda function on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's legal policies, and the political tasks of the Party Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City government.

The newspaper will build a column to promote typical advanced examples, new factors, encourage and motivate veterans and former soldiers of Ho Chi Minh City to continue to promote the nature and noble traditions of Uncle Ho's Army in building and protecting the Party, government and people; criticize negative phenomena;educate and encourage the spirit of patriotic emulation for the cause of building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in accordance with the policies and leadership views of the Party and State; in accordance with the orientation and direction of the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The City Veterans Association takes on the task of informing about the association's activities; introducing typical and advanced veterans, good models, and effective methods in building a clean and strong association; actively participating in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints.

Along with that, continue to maintain and promote the effectiveness of the City Veterans Association's general electronic information page (or other appropriate forms of online information and propaganda) to become an effective, fast and widely spreading communication tool in the propaganda work on the association's activities; introduce typical and advanced veterans; protect the Party's ideological foundation, fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints.

The meeting took place in a serious and highly unified atmosphere, ensuring that the transfer was carried out in accordance with the process, contributing to improving the effectiveness of propaganda work in the new situation. The arrangement and assignment of personnel after the dissolution of the Magazine will be chaired and coordinated by the Organizing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee in accordance with regulations.
