Mr. Luu and his wife developed a model for producing straw mushrooms.

Village 2 in Phuong 2 boasts flower-lined roads with vibrant hibiscus bushes, enhancing the scenic beauty. The first flower-lined road project was constructed by local departments, organizations, and associations, with active contributions from youth union members. The success of this project motivated the Youth Union Executive Committee to launch the construction of additional flower-lined roads, built with the dedication and hard work of young people.

Hibiscus plants have a long lifespan, ranging from a few years to decades, and can bloom continuously throughout the year. They are considered one of the flowers that embody the spirit of the countryside, which is why the Youth Union chose them. Ho Van Luu and other members of the Youth Union personally cut branches and planted them. With persistent cultivation and care, the hibiscus hedge has grown, extending along the village road and beautifying the environment.

“Despite being busy earning a living, the young people are willing to arrange their work schedules to plant and care for each section of the tree, ensuring that it thrives and blooms. Learning from the exemplary spirit of the Youth Union Secretary, we are contributing our youthful energy to our homeland,” said Ho Thi Mong Huyen, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Phuong 2 village.

Ms. Huyen and many other youth union members spoke of the young union official with deep respect. They readily responded when their "leader" gave the order, taking the lead in preventing, combating, and mitigating the consequences of natural disasters and floods. They braved the rain and wind alongside the people and other forces to reinforce dikes and irrigation systems, clean up muddy roads, and help repair houses for poor and elderly people.

“In 2025, Mr. Ho Van Luu was awarded a certificate of commendation by the Chairman of the People's Committee of the city for his outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement. Following the example of the Youth Union Secretary, the members and young people of Ward 2 village are ready to fulfill their responsibility to the community, with the belief that "one drop of blood given saves a life," Ms. Huyen shared.

According to La Thi My Dung, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Vang commune and Secretary of the Phu Vang Commune Youth Union, the Secretary of the Youth Union branch in Phuong 2 village effectively fulfills the core role of a bridge at the grassroots level, spreading a positive lifestyle and the enthusiasm of young people; connecting union members and young people with local movements, and inspiring them to contribute to the community.

The martial arts club, headed by Mr. Luu, has been operating since 2018, providing free membership to those in need and with disabilities. “I am very happy that young people are joining the martial arts club. It’s a healthy playground, improving health, equipping them with self-defense skills, fostering discipline and concentration, and relieving stress after a stressful day at work or school. During training, they develop a spirit of mutual support and compassion, helping each other and protecting the vulnerable,” Mr. Luu expressed.

Alongside his community activities, Mr. Luu has always strived to develop his own business and spread that spirit to young people in the area. From an initial establishment five years ago, Mr. Luu and his relatives have now developed a chain of four nutritious porridge shops in Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 4, and Thanh Lam Bo, creating jobs for many local workers.

Currently, Mr. Luu is implementing an additional model of straw mushroom production, with an initial investment of 2 mushroom houses. He is determined to develop and expand the model in the future, increasing his income and also creating motivation for young people in the area to strive for wealth.
