Currently, in B'Lao ward, Ward 1, Ward 2, and Ward 3 of Bao Loc, there are over 55 hectares of wild orchids cultivated and cared for by 200 households. According to wild orchid enthusiasts, Bao Loc ranks first in the country in terms of area and diversity of species.

The origins of wild orchid cultivation in Bao Loc lie in orchid enthusiasts who grew them for their own enjoyment of the flowers. Later, recognizing the economic value, households successfully propagated them through various methods such as seed sowing, separating young shoots from the mother plant, and tissue culture to supply the market in large quantities.

According to artisan Trinh Van Si (owner of Van Si orchid garden), a renowned orchid grower who has won numerous awards at national competitions: “The hobby of collecting wild orchids has existed for a long time, and almost everywhere in our country, there are people who enjoy it. In Bao Loc, about 10 years ago, the hobby of collecting wild orchids began to flourish; recognizing the business and economic development opportunities, many households expanded their cultivation areas, and today many people have succeeded with this model.”

The family of artisan Trinh Van Si owns a wild orchid garden of approximately 7,000 in Ward 1, Bao Loc. Over 300 different varieties of wild orchids are cultivated, cared for, hybridized, and propagated in the garden. Of these, about 150 species are grown and commercially cultivated, yielding significant profits. Currently, Trinh Van Si's wild orchid cultivation model provides employment for 6 regular local workers.

According to artisan Trinh Van Si, Bao Loc has a climate and humidity favorable for the growth and development of wild orchids. The success of over 200 households has proven this. Generally speaking, growing wild orchids is a hobby that provides a stable income. On average, each plot (1,000 ) yields an income of approximately 300 million VND per year; while beautiful wild orchids that win awards in competitions fetch very high prices because they are collectible, symbolic, or used for propagation.

Many orchid growers in Bao Loc have been awarded the title of "artisan," and they all own large orchid gardens in terms of area and variety in the locality. Typical examples include: artisan Hoang Thai Ha (Cao Nguyen Xanh Orchid Garden, Ward 3, Bao Loc); artisan Vu Duc Nghi (Huong Nghi Orchid Garden, Ward 1, Bao Loc); artisan Nguyen Manh Tan (Manh Tan Orchid Garden, B'Lao Ward); artisan Pham Van Duoc (Hong To Quyen Orchid Garden, Ward 1, Bao Loc)... All of them earn billions of VND annually from their hobby and business of growing wild orchids.

The current market for wild orchids mainly supplies provinces and cities nationwide through large-quantity orders and sales by growers on social media platforms. During the recent Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, orchid growers in the area sold over 200,000 orchid plants of various types. The biggest wish of orchid growers in Bao Loc is for wild orchids to be exported to international markets, which would increase their income and raise awareness of the value of Vietnamese wild orchids in other countries.

Mr. Trinh Van Si added that Bao Loc is also a region that produces many rare and precious orchid varieties in nature, such as: Dendrobium nobile, Dendrobium chrysotoxum, Dendrobium nobile, Dendrobium chrysotoxum, Dendrobium fimbriatum, Dendrobium fimbriatum, Dendrobium fimbriatum... These orchids are all valuable and highly sought after in the market. Furthermore, most of the wild orchids in Bao Loc bloom during the Lunar New Year, making them even more valuable each spring.

Cultivating wild orchids is becoming a high-income model in the mountainous town of Bao Loc. Besides large orchid gardens, many people are now utilizing small spaces to grow wild orchids, a highly effective way to develop the economy and engage in farming within the city.
