Currently, in B'Lao ward, ward 1 Bao Loc, ward 2 Bao Loc, ward 3 Bao Loc, there are more than 55 hectares of wild orchids with 200 households growing and caring for them. According to wild orchid players, Bao Loc is the country's largest in terms of area and variety.

The origin of the wild orchid growing profession in Bao Loc was orchid enthusiasts who grew them to enjoy the flowers. Then, realizing the economic value, households successfully propagated them in many ways such as: sowing seeds, separating young shoots from the mother plant, and tissue culture to serve the market in large quantities.

Artisan Trinh Van Sy (owner of Van Sy orchid garden), a famous orchid grower and winner of many awards at domestic competitions, said: “The hobby of growing wild orchids has been around for a long time, and there are people growing them almost everywhere in our country. In Bao Loc, about 10 years ago, the hobby of growing wild orchids began to “bloom”; seeing the business and economic development opportunities, many households expanded their acreage, and now many people have succeeded with this model.”

Artisan Trinh Van Sy's family has a wild orchid garden of about 7,000 m2 in Ward 1, Bao Loc. Over 300 different wild orchid varieties are planted, cared for, bred, and propagated by the artist in his home garden. Of these, about 150 wild orchid species are planted and traded effectively. Currently, the wild orchid growing model of artist Trinh Van Sy is creating jobs for 6 regular workers in the locality.

Artisan Trinh Van Si believes that Bao Loc is a land with favorable climate and humidity for wild orchids to grow and develop well. In fact, the success of more than 200 households has proven that. In general, growing wild orchids is a job that is both work and play, and provides a stable income. On average, each sao (1,000 m 2 ) brings in an income of about 300 million VND/year; and beautiful wild orchid pots that have won prizes in competitions are very expensive because they are collectible, symbolic or for breeding.

Many of Bao Loc’s wild orchid growers have been awarded the title of artisan, and they all own many “huge” orchid gardens in terms of area and variety in the locality. Typical examples include: artisan Hoang Thai Ha (Green Highland Orchid Garden, Ward 3, Bao Loc); artisan Vu Duc Nghi (Huong Nghi Orchid Garden, Ward 1, Bao Loc); artisan Nguyen Manh Tan (Manh Tan Orchid Garden, B’Lao Ward); artisan Pham Van Duoc (Hong To Quyen Orchid Garden, Ward 1, Bao Loc)… All of them have an income of billions of dong each year thanks to their hobby of growing and trading wild orchids.

The current wild orchid market mainly supplies domestic provinces and cities in the form of large orders and garden owners sell on social platforms. During the recent Lunar New Year 2025, wild orchid gardeners in the area sold more than 200,000 orchid pots of various types. The biggest wish of orchid garden owners in Bao Loc is for wild orchids to be "exported" to foreign markets, at which time income will increase and other countries will know the value of Vietnamese wild orchids.

Mr. Trinh Van Si added that Bao Loc is also the land that produces many rare orchid varieties in nature such as: Dendrobium (phi diep), Tram tim, Dendrobium cambodia, White narcissus, Kim diep, Dai y thao, Long tu xuan... The above orchids are all valuable and very popular in the market. On the other hand, wild orchids in Bao Loc mostly bloom on the occasion of Lunar New Year, so they are even more valuable every spring.

Growing wild orchids is a high-income model in the mountainous town of Bao Loc. In addition to large orchid gardens, many people now take advantage of small spaces to grow wild orchids, a way to develop the economy and do farming quite effectively in the middle of the city.
