At the Vietnam-Serbia Political Consultation, in a friendly, frank and open atmosphere, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia updated each other on the socio-economic development situation of each country, as well as discussed directions to promote Vietnam-Serbia relations in the coming time.

The two Deputy Ministers expressed their delight at the positive developments in the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Serbia in many fields; highly appreciated the coordinating role and close coordination and cooperation between the two countries ' Foreign Ministries in promoting delegation exchanges, high-level contacts, mutual support at multilateral forums and international organizations, maintaining the Political Consultation mechanism, thereby contributing to strengthening political trust between the two countries, creating an important premise to promote cooperation in other fields.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship with Serbia, which originated from President Ho Chi Minh's historic visit to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1957; congratulated Serbia on hosting the EXPO 2027 International Exhibition in the capital city of Belgrade with the theme "Play for Humanity - Sports and Music for All"; highly appreciated Serbia's participation in the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), contributing to promoting comprehensive cooperation between Serbia and ASEAN; affirmed that Vietnam is ready to play a bridging role to enhance extensive cooperation between Serbia and ASEAN and countries in the Southeast Asian region.

The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations through all Party, Government and National Assembly channels, especially on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027; continue to regularly maintain the Political Consultation mechanism between the two Foreign Ministries to promote the coordinating role and promote bilateral relations, while studying and building new mechanisms to deepen specialized cooperation between the two countries, and promote cooperation through parliamentary and people-to-people diplomacy channels.

Expressing his impression of Vietnam's dynamic socio-economic development, Deputy Minister Damjan Jovic affirmed that Serbia proposed that the two sides exchange delegations at all levels, including businesses; increase trade promotion activities, explore markets in areas of strength and demand of the two countries such as agriculture, information technology, innovation, etc.; encourage businesses of both sides to increase investment in each country; affirm the hope that Vietnam will participate in the EXPO 2027 International Exhibition organized by Serbia. The two sides agreed to continue to coordinate and support each other at regional and international forums of which both sides are members such as the United Nations and mechanisms within the United Nations framework such as UNESCO, the Human Rights Council, etc.

The two sides shared the stance on the need to maintain a peaceful and stable environment for development, support multilateralism and free trade, and strengthen the United Nations' activities towards efficiency, transparency and fairness. The two sides also agreed on the need to uphold international law, the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, and resolve disputes by peaceful means through dialogue.

At the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Adrijana Mesarovic and Minister Nenad Popovic, the Serbian side highly appreciated the potential and role of Vietnam in ASEAN as well as the Asia-Pacific region. The Serbian side said that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is still very large, especially in Serbia's strong fields such as information technology, digital transformation, high technology, innovation, agriculture, etc.; proposed that the two countries negotiate a bilateral free trade agreement to promote economic cooperation between the two countries; affirmed that they would encourage Serbian businesses to visit and explore the Vietnamese market, seek cooperation opportunities with Vietnam, and suggested that the two countries study opening a direct flight between Vietnam and Serbia; expressed interest in international conferences, seminars, and events on robots, information technology, etc. in Vietnam.

The two sides discussed measures to promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of security - defense, labor, education, culture, sports, tourism, people-to-people exchange... Regarding cooperation in culture, sports, tourism, and people-to-people exchange, the Serbian side agreed to promote the organization of cultural, artistic, exhibition, and film programs, as well as promote cooperation in sports training and increase participation in tourism promotion activities in each country, and encourage Vietnamese students to study in Serbia. The two sides also agreed to promote negotiations on a labor cooperation agreement in the context of Serbia's great demand for labor and Vietnam's abundant young workforce.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang announced that the United Nations has agreed to choose Vietnam as the host country for the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention on October 25-26, 2025 and conveyed a letter from President Luong Cuong inviting the President of Serbia to attend the signing ceremony of the Convention.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that the participation of Serbia's high-ranking leaders will contribute to the success of the joint efforts of the United Nations and member states in adopting a new legal framework regulating the field of cybercrime prevention.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang met and visited representatives of the Vietnamese community in Serbia.
