Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang visits Belarus, co-chairs Political Consultation

Belarusian Foreign Minister M. Ryzhenkov affirmed that Vietnam is one of Belarus's most important partners in the region.

At the invitation of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang visited Belarus from April 23-24 to conduct political consultations.

On the morning of April 24, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus S. Lukashevich chaired the Political Consultation.

In the spirit of sincerity, openness and trust, the two sides informed each other about the socio-economic situation and foreign policies, reviewed and agreed on the content, plans and programs of high-level delegation exchanges, assessed the results of implementing agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries in recent times, exchanged opinions on measures to strengthen bilateral relations in the coming time, as well as on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

First Deputy Minister S. Lukashevich highly appreciated Vietnam's development situation, expressed admiration for Vietnam's development achievements in recent years and said that Vietnam has an increasingly high role and position in the international arena.

The two sides were pleased with the positive developments in the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus, especially after the official visit to Vietnam by Belarusian Prime Minister R. Golovchenko in December 2023 and the meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Belarusian President A. Lukashenko (October 2024).

The two sides maintain the exchange of many delegations through all Party, State, and National Assembly channels between ministries, sectors, and localities, thereby contributing to strengthening political trust between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and First Deputy Minister S. Lukashevich agreed that in the coming time, it is necessary to continue promoting delegation exchanges and regular contacts, closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, creating a foundation for strong and sustainable development of cooperation in other fields.

The two Deputy Ministers agreed to coordinate and urge the functional agencies of the two countries to carefully prepare and successfully organize visits by high-ranking leaders of the two countries in the coming time.

Welcoming the two sides for successfully organizing the 16th Session of the Vietnam-Belarus Intergovernmental Committee in Hanoi (April 2025); noting that the exchange of goods between the two countries is on a positive development path, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and First Deputy Minister S. Lukashevich said that the current turnover is still very modest compared to the potential and desires of the two sides.

The two Deputy Ministers agreed to continue to promote relevant ministries, sectors, and businesses of the two countries to increase connectivity, contact, and information exchange, expand investment and business opportunities for each side, and open the door for goods from each country to access each other's markets.

The two sides highly appreciated the signing of the Visa Exemption Agreement for citizens of the two countries, and encouraged and supported airlines of the two countries to consider opening direct flights to promote tourism, investment, trade and people-to-people exchanges. The two Deputy Ministers said that Vietnam and Belarus have many premises and potentials to promote cooperation in other areas such as science and technology, innovation, agriculture and mechanical engineering, culture, sports, etc.

Regarding education and training cooperation, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang proposed that Belarus increase full scholarships for Vietnamese students.

Regarding cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the two Deputy Ministers agreed to regularly maintain the mechanism of political consultation and contact between the leaders of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs to promote the coordinating role and promote relations between Vietnam and Belarus.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and First Deputy Minister S. Lukashevich shared their assessments and comments on the current world and regional situation, agreeing that Vietnam and Belarus need to continue to consistently implement an independent, self-reliant, balanced, diversified, and multilateral foreign policy, while closely coordinating at international organizations and multilateral forums, including the United Nations, to promote their roles and contribute to the common cause of human progress, striving for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

The two sides stressed that disputes should be resolved by peaceful means, in accordance with the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter. The two sides acknowledged and agreed to continue to consider supporting each other in participating in multilateral institutions, especially within the framework of the United Nations.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang visited Belarusian Foreign Minister M. Ryzhenkov. Belarusian Foreign Minister M. Ryzhenkov highly appreciated the results of the Political Consultation, considering it an important mechanism in coordinating cooperation between the two countries.

Emphasizing that Belarus welcomes the exchange of delegations between the two countries' high-ranking leaders in the coming time, Minister M. Ryzhenkov affirmed that the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will do its best to coordinate in promoting bilateral relations and carefully prepare for high-level visits.

Minister M. Ryzhenkov affirmed that Vietnam is one of Belarus's most important partners in the region, wishing to promote relations between the two countries to new heights.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that she will closely coordinate with the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies of the two countries to strengthen Vietnam-Belarus relations for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang conveyed the greetings of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son to Foreign Minister M. Ryzhenkov.

Minister M. Ryzhenkov sincerely thanked and asked the Deputy Minister to convey his regards and wished to meet Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son as soon as possible.
