German Chancellor Scholz fell while walking briskly, having to cancel several events apparently because of a large bruise on his face.
The German government announced that Chancellor Olaf Scholz had to cancel his attendance at events on September 3 due to a "minor sporting accident". The chancellor's spokesman said his schedule for next week was not affected.
Social Democratic Party (SPD) MP Michal Roth said earlier that Mr Scholz had to cancel a series of civic dialogue events on September 2 because he "didn't feel well". Bild newspaper reported that Chancellor Scholz was in good health, but the bruise on his face was "big enough to prevent him from appearing in public at this time".

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is preparing for a busy week. After a series of local events on September 4-6, he will travel to India to attend the G20 summit on September 8.
Chancellor Scholz, 65, revealed that he was not interested in sports when he was at school, but developed a love for fast walking thanks to his wife Britta Ernst. "I walk as often as possible," he said, adding that he usually does it two or three times a week and also enjoys cycling.
