On April 7th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Official Dispatch No. 33/CD-TTg regarding the organization of groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies for key national projects and major construction projects to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country.
The official dispatch stated: The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the reunification of the country is an opportunity for us to look back at the glorious history of our nation, to reflect on the journey of building and developing the country, and to gain a deeper understanding of the values and lessons learned from the practical struggles of our nation. This will further strengthen our resolve and determination in the cause of building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland, transforming the glorious achievements of the past into a driving force to fulfill our historical mission in the new era – an era of striving for prosperity, civilization, happiness, and well-being for the Vietnamese nation.
Joining in the nationwide atmosphere of excitement on this historic occasion, the Government is organizing simultaneous online groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies across all three regions of Vietnam (North, Central, and South) for important projects and major constructions to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country; the simultaneous online groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies nationwide are scheduled for April 19, 2025.
This is a significant event, and the Prime Minister requests:
Ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, and chairpersons of People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities are urged to promptly review and compile a list of important projects and large-scale projects of their respective sectors and provinces (transportation, energy, industry, hospitals, schools, irrigation, digital infrastructure, climate change response, culture, etc.) that meet the requirements for commencement and inauguration to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. This list should be submitted to the Government Office for compilation and reporting to the Prime Minister before April 12, 2025; and information on these projects (name, type, scale, etc.).
The Government Office, in coordination with relevant ministries, agencies, and provinces and cities, will review the list of the aforementioned works and projects and report to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision. The Government Office will monitor and urge ministries, agencies, and localities to implement the tasks assigned in this directive.
