After conceding the goal, the Vietnamese team gradually lost their rhythm. Thailand created many chances but goalkeeper Ho Van Y played excellently to help the Vietnamese team not concede any more goals. Meanwhile, Myanmar ended the match with a 3-1 victory over China. The Vietnamese team only needed to not concede more than 2 goals to reach the quarter-finals.
