Mr. Nguyen Anh Thuan, Head of the Continuing Education, Vocational and University Education Department of the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training, shared that the teaching of Korean in schools in Hai Phong has been implemented for many years. The teaching of Korean has achieved many positive results, such as: students enthusiastically participating in learning, high subject scores; promoting cultural exchange between the two countries through competitions and exchanges; and students achieving many successes in competitions. As a result, the quality of teaching and learning Korean as a Foreign Language 1 and 2 has been increasingly strengthened and improved, meeting the standards of knowledge and skills in the foreign language.

Tran Phu Secondary School in Le Chan Ward is a pioneering institution in teaching Korean as a first foreign language since the 2023-2024 school year. To date, the school has 3 classes with 191 students studying Korean.

Ms. Le Thi Minh Tam, Principal of Tran Phu Secondary School, shared that from the very beginning of implementing Korean language teaching, the school has received attention and guidance from leaders at all levels, active support from parents, and especially the enthusiastic response from students.
From the initial lessons introducing the alphabet, many students can now confidently introduce themselves, communicate at a basic level in familiar situations, and participate in performing arts, reciting poetry, singing, dancing, and acting in plays in Korean during extracurricular activities. The percentage of students meeting the subject requirements remains high, with an increasing number of students achieving good and excellent grades, reflecting clear progress each school year.

Ms. Le Thi Minh Tam, Principal of Tran Phu Secondary School, shared her thoughts on the quality of Korean language teaching at the school.

Besides academic achievements, students have also achieved many outstanding accomplishments in competitions and exchange activities. Many have won prizes in school and city-level Korean speech contests, won awards in beautiful Korean handwriting competitions, and received numerous encouraging awards at Korean language and culture festivals.
"In the coming years, we hope that the Korean language teaching program will continue to expand in scale, with the addition of more modern teaching materials and equipment. At the same time, we will organize more cultural and linguistic exchange activities, creating opportunities for students to practice and fostering the development of Vietnamese Korean language teachers to ensure long-term, sustainable growth," Ms. Tam said.
