Preparing 5-year-old children to enter grade 1 to meet the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program in Hai Phong city

On the morning of September 30, 2025, the Department of Education and Training of Hai Phong directed the successful organization of the topic "Preparing 5-year-old children to enter grade 1 to meet the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program" and assigned Sao Mai Kindergarten and Nui Deo Primary School, Thuy Nguyen Ward to coordinate in selecting teachers and preparing the content of educational activities on the day of the city-level professional seminar.

Based on the 2025-2026 school year tasks of the Ministry of Education and Training , the Department of Education and Training, on September 16, 2025, the Department of Education and Training issued Plan No. 6586/KH-SGDĐT on organizing a city-level specialized topic, with the aim of continuing to effectively implement the 2018 General Education Program as well as performing the task of digital transformation in the Education and Training sector, and at the same time, through the topic " Preparing 5-year-old children to enter grade 1 to meet the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program" to launch good propaganda work to all managers, teachers of preschool and primary education institutions and all parents in the city with the motto "Accompanying children - Not learning in advance, learning correctly" contributing to raising awareness for parents about preparing their children's mindset to enter grade 1 in the right direction, scientifically and in accordance with the Education program. Preschool; helps children develop comprehensively, harmoniously and appropriately with their age psychology and without creating pressure for both parents and students. This is also an activity in the series of activities directed by the Department of Preschool Education and Primary Education on implementing the model of skillful Mass Mobilization "Accompanying children - Not learning in advance, learning correctly"

Attending and directing the seminar were Ms. Hoang Thi Dinh, Deputy Head of the Department of Preschool Education, experts from the Department of Preschool Education, Ministry of Education and Training; Speaker Phan Ho Diep, lecturer of the Faculty of Special Education, Hanoi National University of Education, advising on preparing children's psychology, skills and emotions before entering grade 1; Mr. Vu Tri Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training; Ms. Phi Thi Thuy Van, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training; experts from the Department of Primary Education, Department of Education and Training; Representatives of local government leaders and representatives of parents in the area. The topic was organized in a combination of in-person and online formats, attracting the attention of all management staff, preschool teachers teaching 5-year-old classes and first-grade teachers with 1,079 educational institution bridges, which are preschools and elementary schools in the city through the K12-Online online meeting software.

At the Seminar, delegates and teachers attended 2 experiential lessons: Kindergarten class 5-6 years old with the topic Getting acquainted with the letter m/n by teacher Dao Thi Hong Tham, Sao Mai Kindergarten and Class 1A4 with the lesson Mm Nn by teacher Ngo Thi Ngoc Bich, Nui Deo Primary School, Thuy Nguyen ward.

Through the unit's report, it shows that kindergartens and primary schools in Thuy Nguyen ward have been active in communication work, coordinated propaganda, and implemented many creative and effective solutions in propaganda work to help parents understand the nature of the first grade program and the importance of preparing children's psychology and skills instead of forcing them to learn knowledge and the first grade program in advance, avoiding the trend of sending their children to school before the program in the hope that their children will be better than their peers.

The workshop also provided time for teachers representing preschool and primary education institutions to share methods, experiences and initiatives in implementing educational activities, as well as to express concerns, difficulties and propose solutions for implementation in the coming period.

Mr. Vu Tri Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hai Phong, emphasized that this is a major professional activity in the whole industry, helping teachers successfully implement the new general education program and is also an opportunity for teachers to study together, foster love for the profession, and improve the professional qualifications of managers and teachers at educational institutions in the city.
