Promoting research cooperation and policy consulting between Vietnam and Switzerland

On the afternoon of May 28, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang received and worked with Mr. Thomas Gass, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Vietnam.

At the reception, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang expressed his pleasure to welcome Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam Thomas Gass to visit and work at the Academy.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that the achievements of cooperation over the past 50 years are proof of the effective cooperation between the two countries; and are the basis for the two sides to continue to elevate the relationship in the coming time.

Emphasizing that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and cooperation with Switzerland, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation and exchange delegations on all channels; continue to closely coordinate at multilateral forums, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world .

Switzerland continues to accelerate the negotiation and signing of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

Regarding cooperation between the Academy and the Embassy and other Swiss partners, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang said that the Academy wishes to cooperate with educational institutions, especially training institutions, fostering leadership and management teams; research institutes, and policy consultants of Switzerland.

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics is ready to share experiences with Swiss partners in various fields, especially issues of equitable energy transition, digital transformation, and climate change adaptation through cooperation forms such as research, organizing workshops, seminars, information sharing, and delegations for research, surveys, and experience exchange.

Thanking Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang for taking the time to meet and work, Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam Thomas Gass affirmed that Switzerland always attaches importance to the friendship and cooperation relationship with Vietnam.

Sharing the opinions and cooperation proposals of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, the Ambassador affirmed that he will make efforts to successfully implement cooperation programs with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in the coming time.

On this occasion, the Ambassador also expressed his wish to coordinate with the Academy to organize a seminar to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Agreement (July 21, 1954 - July 21, 2024).

Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang said that the Academy supports the Ambassador's proposal and will closely coordinate with the Swiss Embassy to successfully organize this meaningful seminar./.
