In order to promote the development of border gate economy, in recent times, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone has proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee to strengthen foreign affairs, exchanges and cooperation with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and localities of China. Along with that, the unit has also actively sent working letters, chaired talks, coordinated and organized working delegations to exchange and reach agreement with Chinese agencies to promote customs clearance of goods.
Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Head of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board, said: From 2024 to now, the board has advised the Provincial People's Committee to send 2 Official Letters to the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China; coordinated with the Provincial People's Committee to organize an online signing ceremony with the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the mechanism for regular meetings and exchanges to jointly build a pilot smart border gate; discussed with the People's Government of Pingxiang City, Guangxi to advise the two provinces and regions to co-organize the official announcement ceremony of the opening of a dedicated road for transporting goods in the area of landmarks 1088/2-1089, the Tan Thanh - Po Chai customs clearance (area of landmarks 1090 - 1091), the Coc Nam - Lung Nghiu customs clearance (area of landmarks 1104 - 1105) of the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan International Border Gate...
Along with that, the unit sent 111 working letters, chaired the organization of 22 meetings;... The main contents of the exchanges and work were related to removing difficulties and obstacles, facilitating and promoting entry and exit activities, import and export of goods; promoting the construction of smart border gate models and accelerating the restoration of operations of the two sides' auxiliary border gate pairs.
In addition, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone has presided over and coordinated with relevant departments, branches and units to submit to the Provincial People's Committee a Decision regulating the use of digital border gate platforms in the province and deploy related contents; advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a Decision to complete the Inter-sectoral Working Group to support the management and operation of import and export activities at border gates in the province; agreed to increase working time with Chinese authorities at border gate pairs and flexibly regulate vehicles carrying goods waiting for export during peak times, ensuring no local congestion in the border gate area.
Mr. Luong Van Quang, an employee of SAFACO Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Hanoi) said: I regularly carry out customs clearance procedures at the border gates of Lang Son province. During times when customs clearance is difficult due to China's holidays, Lang Son province's authorities have discussed and agreed with relevant agencies of the neighboring country to create maximum convenience for businesses to carry out import-export customs clearance of goods.
Ms. Trinh Tuyet Mai, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, said: The province's foreign affairs activities, contacts, exchanges, and meetings in recent times, especially through existing cooperation mechanisms between the Provincial Party Secretaries of the provinces: Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang (now Tuyen Quang province) and the Party Secretaries of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, the conference of the Joint Working Committee between 5 provinces/regions of Vietnam - Guangxi (China) and the exchange and discussion mechanism between the functional branches of the province and the corresponding agencies of Guangxi have contributed to increasing understanding, consolidating political trust, and increasing solidarity and friendship. At the same time, they have also coordinated to find effective solutions to promote customs clearance of goods, resolving the congestion of goods, especially agricultural products exported from Vietnam to the Chinese market. In the coming time, the Department will continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee to review, amend, supplement and promulgate mechanisms and policies related to the unified management of foreign affairs activities in the area; advise on innovation and flexibility in organizing foreign affairs activities in accordance with the actual situation, focusing on economic diplomacy, promoting border trade, accelerating the construction progress of works and projects associated with the implementation of the Project on piloting smart border gates, connecting road traffic, promoting the opening and upgrading of border gates.
With flexible and synchronous foreign affairs solutions, import and export activities through the province have recorded many positive results. In 2024, the growth momentum continued to be recorded with a total import and export turnover of 66.5 billion USD, an increase of 22.7% compared to 2023. From the beginning of 2025 to now, the total import and export turnover has reached over 36.8 billion USD, an increase of 44.6% over the same period last year; budget revenue from import and export activities reached 5,626.55 billion VND, an increase of 60.2% over the same period in 2024.
We believe that with the solutions that have been, are being and will be implemented by the provincial authorities, the border gate economy in the area will continue to have many improvements in the coming time. From there, it will contribute significantly to the implementation of the goals of growth and socio-economic development of the province.
