Since the beginning of the year, the economy of Tra On district has continued to develop, with industrial production, handicrafts, trade and services growing quite well. Along with solutions to direct economic development, the district is focusing on increasing the disbursement rate, creating momentum to promote the growth target of 8% or more.

Expand production and business development

Having been involved in the rice paper making profession for more than 40 years, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Lieu - Tan Thanh hamlet (Luc Si Thanh commune) said: Every month, her facility supplies the market with 5-6 thousand cakes. In addition to traditional products (dipped rice paper, spring roll rice paper), the people here have constantly innovated, making new rice paper dishes such as: sweet milk rice paper, sweet dragon fruit rice paper, sweet jackfruit rice paper, chili rice paper... Starting from the desire to recreate Tra On floating market, Mr. Tran Minh Ven (in Long Hung hamlet, Luc Si Thanh commune) boldly invested and rented more than 20 hectares of land from surrounding people with gardens of rambutan, longan, coconut... At the same time, he restored more than 10 old boats and ships. Recently, the tourist area welcomed a "special guest" - a school of river fish coming to live, leaving an impression in the hearts of visitors every time they have the opportunity to set foot here.

To promote tourism development, Mr. Tran Minh Ven has created conditions for people around to work together and benefit from tourism. The development of tourist areas contributes to promoting economic restructuring, improving the efficiency of linking tourism services with agriculture , contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.

According to Tra On District Party Committee, in the first quarter of 2025, tourist attractions in Luc Si Thanh commune welcomed 4,500 visitors, with revenue of about 1 billion VND. Total retail sales of goods and social consumer service revenue reached nearly 1,474.9 billion VND, up nearly 8.5% over the same period. Industrial and handicraft production value reached nearly 97.4 billion VND, up nearly 7.5%.
The district has 37 farms, an increase of 3 farms over the same period. Of these, 29 farms raise broiler chickens with a total herd of 570,700, bringing in quite high profits.

With 5,000m2 of land, Mr. Nguyen Van Le invested in 4 industrial chicken farms in Cay Diep hamlet (Tra On town). Mr. Le said: He is raising 60,000 chickens, selling them every 42 days, at a selling price of 29,000 VND/chicken. Raising 5 batches each year, he earns a profit of about 450-500 million VND/year.

Increase disbursement rate, promote 8% growth

Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Provincial Party Committee member, Secretary of Tra On District Party Committee, said: In the first quarter, the district's economy continued to develop, industrial production - small-scale industry, trade - services grew quite well. The district directed budget collection and expenditure in accordance with regulations. In addition, taking good care of policy families, retired cadres and implementing social security policies well, creating a positive ripple effect among the people...

In the second quarter, the district focused on leading and directing all tasks related to agricultural economic development; organizing meetings, contacts, and dialogues to resolve difficulties, problems, and recommendations of enterprises, companies, cooperatives, and production and business households. In addition, urgently directing the work of site clearance for construction projects according to the 2025 plan; speeding up the construction progress of transitional projects and approving the final settlement of completed projects and works put into use; implementing the construction of medium-term capital projects and capital projects of the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas.

According to Tra On District Party Committee, the public investment capital plan allocated for 2025 is more than 110.7 billion VND, has been implemented and disbursed nearly 4.2 billion VND. The capital expenditure plan for investment-related activities in 2025 is 18.8 billion VND, and is being implemented. The whole district has 37 projects. Of which, there are 19 transitional projects, 4 projects have been completed; 5/18 new projects have been started. The district directs to accelerate the completion of transitional projects and works in 2024; complete investment procedures and documents, and implement construction of planned projects in 2025.

Currently, the district directs to strengthen the work of site clearance for construction of basic construction works. At the same time, directs specialized agencies, especially the district and commune investment project management boards, to coordinate to speed up the progress, contributing to speeding up the disbursement of public investment capital.
