Promote physical education and sports movement, improve quality of life

In recent years, responding to the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", the mass physical training and sports movement has grown stronger and spread widely in the province. Thereby, attracting people from all walks of life to actively exercise, contributing to improving health and spiritual life.

In mid-July, at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, the 4th Provincial Civil Servants' Trade Union Sports Festival 2023 took place, attracting more than 200 athletes to participate in 5 events: Tennis, men's volleyball, women's volleyball, sack jumping, tug of war. Athlete Quang Vinh, Cluster 3 shared: When the Provincial Civil Servants' Trade Union organized the sports festival, I registered to compete in the men's volleyball event. Although I am not a professional, participating in the competition is very fun and exciting. Comrade Dinh Thi Son Thai, Chairman of the Provincial Civil Servants' Trade Union, said: The sports festival is an opportunity for union members, professional and non-professional athletes, to exchange and learn experiences in organizing mass activities and physical training, improving health, contributing to the completion of the agency's political tasks.

Comrade Van Cong Hoa, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: In recent years, the department has actively advised the Provincial People's Committee to direct and guide sectors and localities to promote the organization of mass sports activities; focus on investing in the construction of cultural and sports facilities in villages and neighborhoods; plan areas in the center of districts and communes for sports training and investment in sports equipment, and at the same time encourage the establishment of sports clubs among the people... Up to now, over 90% of schools in the province regularly organize extracurricular sports activities, playgrounds for children are regularly upgraded and newly built, with over 130 volleyball courts; 156 soccer fields; 55 tennis courts and 85 basic sports fields... On the other hand, the organization and construction of grassroots sports tournaments are increasingly rich, diverse and gradually becoming routine with the forms of training groups, sports teams, and sports clubs in a self-managed, organized, and guided manner, promoting the movement to develop in the direction of socialization. Every year, grassroots sports tournaments, friendly competitions, cultural and sports festivals with ethnic sports are organized in conjunction with local holidays, New Year's, and traditional days, contributing to improving spiritual life, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere, and strengthening the solidarity of ethnic groups in the community.

In addition, localities have stepped up propaganda to raise people's awareness of the benefits of physical exercise, and mobilized people to actively participate in physical exercise activities to improve their health. Currently, many branches and sports clubs in the province have been established and maintained effective operations, such as: football, volleyball, chess, health care clubs..., attracting thousands of people to participate. In addition, each person, depending on their circumstances, conditions, health status and preferences, chooses daily physical exercise activities such as: walking, dancing, badminton, table tennis... Typically, in the past 3 years, with the attention of women's associations at all levels in the province, the folk dance movement has also developed strongly to the village and neighborhood levels. This sport does not require much in terms of playground conditions and equipment, so it is easy to practice and suitable for the increasing sports needs of the people, contributing to diversifying the types of mass sports, attracting many women to participate. Ms. Tran Thi Huong, Ward 2, Phuoc My Ward (Phan Rang - Thap Cham City), said: Every morning, women in the neighborhood invite each other to exercise, then seeing that folk dancing is both healthy and fun, they invite each other to practice, at first only a dozen people, now the group has increased to 50 people. Not only in Ward 2, the mass sports model has now spread throughout the province.

By the end of 2022, the number of people participating in regular physical training reached 33.5%; the rate of sports families reached 21.5%; there were over 535 grassroots sports clubs; the number of schools implementing physical education ensured 100% quality, students met the physical training standards of 85%. Not only contributing to maintaining the habit of daily physical training, improving people's health, but the mass sports movement also became an important premise to discover and nurture typical core members for tournaments and sports festivals. Mass sports is also a favorable environment for core members to nurture and improve their qualifications, thereby bringing high achievements to the locality. In the first 6 months of 2023, the provincial Sports sector participated in 4 sports tournaments (1 national sports tournament and 3 regional sports tournaments); won 16 medals of all kinds, specifically: 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 11 bronze medals.

With rich and diverse activities, the province's sports movement has penetrated deeply into social life, spread throughout residential areas, connecting the spirit of solidarity in the community. People's awareness of physical exercise to protect their health is increasingly enhanced, contributing to repelling social evils and promoting socio-economic development.
