On the afternoon of May 6, speaking with a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , Mr. Vo Quoc Loi, representative of B'Blank Cafe Bistro (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) - a support point for recovering lost drones, confirmed that the information that the organizers had recovered almost all the drones on social networks recently was untrue, which affected the overall progress.
He said that the organizing committee members at the scene recorded that there were still many drones missing, estimated to be less than 50% of the original number.
“The organizers have deployed forces to count, but it is very difficult to accurately count more than 10,500 drones. With the naked eye, when gathering the drones into clusters, it seems to be almost enough, but when checking in reality, there are many missing.
We hope to receive cooperation and support from the people so that we can quickly recover the land in full as soon as possible," said Mr. Loi.
According to Mr. Loi, in case the organizers cannot be contacted, people can return the drone at the gathering point or B'Blank, the restaurant will send a portion of water.
Drone crashed during show night
Regarding drone recovery, on social networks, many users are still posting articles asking for help finding lost drones.
In a related development, the ride-hailing app Be announced that it will support 50,000 VND in shipping costs for those who send drones to the organizers via the beDelivery service.
Earlier, on the evening of April 30, many people were present in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, especially the Bach Dang Wharf area (District 1), to watch the drone performance. But after only a few minutes of flying, a series of drones encountered technical problems and fell out of formation, making it impossible for the performance to continue.
On the morning of May 1, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports said the city would not display 10,500 drones that evening.
According to the original plan, on the evening of May 1, from 8:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., 10,500 drones would perform to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. However, the city changed the plan and performed on the evening of April 30.
Notably, during the performance on the evening of April 30, due to widespread interference, there was a possibility of unsafe flight. To ensure flight safety, the organizer decided to stop the flight and retrieve the drone.
