At the age of 72, 4/4 disabled veteran Hoang Van Sinh still remembers clearly the days of fighting on the battlefield. For him, it was a time of facing many dangers, but very proud of his twenties. The battlefield trained him with the will, determination to overcome difficulties, hardships, and determination to fight against foreign invaders with his comrades.
For nearly 6 years participating in the revolution, from 1974 to 1979, Mr. Hoang Van Sinh directly participated in the battlefield of the Southeast region. After the liberation day, he was assigned to the task of military management to protect the city, then participated in the war at the Southwest border.
War invalid Hoang Van Sinh introduces a production model to help his family overcome difficulties.
In 1979, Mr. Hoang Van Sinh returned to his hometown and got married. Despite suffering from war injuries and poor health, he was still enthusiastic about working and developing the economy . “My husband and I started our business with nothing, both parents were poor, I worked for hire and saved up enough money to raise a pig, after selling the pig, I raised a cow and rented another 1.5 hectares of land to grow rice. From the profits from raising cows and growing rice, the family bought a pair of buffaloes to raise,” Mr. Sinh said.
When starting his business, Mr. Sinh always kept in mind Uncle Ho's teaching: "A war invalid is disabled but not useless." He thought that even though he had overcome hardships in fierce battles, he would have to strive even harder to develop his family's economy and take care of his children in peacetime, and should not expect or rely on the support and care of the State.

Therefore, with the will and determination of a soldier, along with hard work, thrift, diligence in learning experience and production techniques, Mr. Sinh's family economy gradually stabilized and developed. Up to now, he and his wife have bought 50 hectares of land, of which 48 hectares are for rice cultivation and 2 hectares for Thai jackfruit cultivation. After deducting expenses, they earn a profit of more than 100 million VND each year.
The happiest thing for the couple is raising their three children to adulthood and success. One of them is the owner of a construction materials facility, another son is taking over the family business and the daughter is working at An Phu Electricity and Water Enterprise. To achieve the success he has today, disabled soldier Hoang Van Sinh had to go through many hardships and challenges...
Not only is he good at economics, in recent years, Mr. Sinh has also actively participated in charity and social activities, movements and activities of the Veterans Association, the Farmers' Association... contributing to the locality in implementing social security work.
Chairman of the Veterans Association of An Phu commune, Nguyen Van Dung, affirmed: "Mr. Hoang Van Sinh is a typical veteran who overcomes difficulties, develops business, and rises in local life."
Although his arms and legs are no longer intact due to war injuries, imbued with Uncle Ho's teaching "Disabled but not useless", 4/4 disabled soldier Hoang Van Sinh has been striving to overcome difficulties, enthusiastically working, producing and developing the economy. He deserves to be a shining example for the younger generation to learn from and follow.
