This year, Korean cinema was included in the "Film Spotlight" program to give the audience a panoramic view of the long journey of Korean cinema from the difficult period to its brilliant development with many peaks.
The organizers selected and screened 11 typical films produced from the 60s of the last century to the present, along with 3 films by veteran Korean filmmaker Im Kwon Taek in the program Focus on Korean Cinema to illustrate each period: overcoming difficulties, rising up, seizing opportunities, systematically building internal strength to achieve success of Korean cinema.
Audiences can see traditional cultural colors in the interaction with Western culture in films of the 60s and 70s; innovation towards openness and democracy in films of the 80s; the "Hallyu" wave from the late 90s to the present with films that are imbued with Korean identity but have a global value, making the Korean film industry grow.
In addition, the audience also enjoyed three classic works (“Seopyeonje”, “Chunhyang” and “Chihwaseon - Painted Fire”) by master director Im Kwon Taek - one of the directors who laid the foundation for the success of Korean cinema.
Along with the screening of 14 representative Korean films, the Da Nang Asian Film Festival also featured the participation of many Korean film stars.
“Korean Cinema Spotlight” will be shown for free at Le Do, CGV, Galaxy, Lotte Da Nang cinemas from June 30 in Da Nang City. Tickets will be distributed free of charge to audiences at Le Do cinema from June 24.
