Implementing the 2024 spring vaccination plan for livestock and poultry, localities in the province have vaccinated more than 51,900 pigs against swine fever and anthrax; vaccinated 44,100 dogs and cats against rabies; vaccinated more than 1,000 buffaloes, cows and goats against foot-and-mouth disease and vaccinated 220 buffaloes and cows against lumpy skin disease.
Among the vaccination subjects, the rabies vaccination results for dogs and cats reached the highest, equal to 92.6% of the planned target, 3 times higher than the same period in 2023. The progress of vaccination against cholera, septicemia for pigs; foot-and-mouth disease, and foot-and-mouth disease for buffaloes, cows, and goats in Nam Dinh city, districts of Y Yen, Nghia Hung, etc. is still slow compared to the plan.
To complete the 2024 spring vaccination plan, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends that districts and cities continue to direct spring vaccination against classical swine fever, rabies, foot-and-mouth disease, lumpy skin disease and other diseases; organize African swine fever vaccination according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee. Establish inspection teams to supervise disease prevention and control and vaccination at the grassroots level. Closely monitor livestock and poultry diseases at the farming households; when detecting unusually sick or dead livestock or suspected of having dangerous infectious diseases, immediately notify veterinary agencies and local authorities for inspection, clearly identify the cause of the disease and take measures to completely handle it, do not hide the epidemic, do not let the epidemic spread widely...
