On June 3, Tien Giang province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a resettlement area for households affected by the Rach Mieu 2 bridge construction project across the Tien River connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Vo Van Tuoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tien Giang province - representative of the investor said: the total investment of the project is over 377.6 billion VND, from the central budget (including compensation, support costs; resettlement, construction costs).
The resettlement area is built on an area of 5.2 hectares, divided into 324 plots and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The project contractor is a joint venture of Anh Tuan Road and Bridge Construction Company Limited, Tien Giang Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company, and Ticco Construction Joint Stock Company.

"The project is not simply about building new houses but also ensuring a better life for households affected by the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction investment project. The resettlement area is planned and designed with the goal of creating a sustainable living environment. The infrastructure is designed in a modern way, including water supply and drainage systems, electricity, convenient roads and other public utilities," emphasized the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tien Giang province.

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project is located about 4km upstream of the current Rach Mieu Bridge on the Tien River, with a total investment of over VND 6,810 billion and started construction in March 2022.
The project starts at Dong Tam intersection in Chau Thanh district (Tien Giang province) and ends at about Km16+660 National Highway 60, about 0.71km from the northern abutment of Ham Luong bridge in Ben Tre city (Ben Tre province).
Rach Mieu 2 Bridge was closed on April 19 and is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by September 2.

As one of the country's key traffic projects, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge not only contributes to meeting the increasing transportation demand on Highway 60, "sharing the burden" for the existing Rach Mieu Bridge, but also promotes socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region in particular and the whole country in general.
