On September 22, the People's Committee of Xuan Thoi Son Commune, Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with relevant units to determine the cause of the fire at Xuan Thoi Son Market (also known as Dinh Market) on Nguyen Van Bua Street late at night on September 21 as well as to count the damage and support plans for traders after the fire.

According to Mr. Pham Xuan Nam, Chairman of Xuan Thoi Son Commune People's Committee, the fire caused 7 stalls and 2 kiosks in front of the market to burn down and be severely damaged. The burned items were mainly daily goods and votive offerings. The Commune People's Committee is counting the number of damaged goods as well as having a plan to support the traders and quickly clean up the scene so that the traders can return to business.
At around 10pm on September 21, a fire broke out and quickly spread in the Xuan Thoi Son market area. At this time, the market had stopped operating, and there were no people inside the kiosks. Because the stalls and kiosks contained many flammable goods such as votive paper, household plastics, western medicine, bakeries, etc., the fire developed quickly and spread, threatening the stalls, kiosks and surrounding houses.

Despite mobilizing dozens of mini fire extinguishers and pulling out water hoses to put out the fire, the local people could not control the fire. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, mobilized vehicles and officers to the scene to put out the fire. By 11 p.m., the fire was completely controlled.
On the morning of September 22, the area in front of Xuan Thoi Son market was devastated and in ruins. Many traders tried to stay behind to search for remaining assets, but almost all of the assets and goods in the affected stalls and kiosks were burned and could not be saved.
