'Spider-Man' Tom Holland's Bonus Wrongly Sent to Actor Tom Hollander

Tom Hollander is known for his roles in many films: Pride & Prejudice , Pirates of the Caribbean , The White Lotus , The Night Manager … all won BAFTA awards. He is not Tom Holland, the 27-year-old superstar who plays Peter Parker- Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Appearing recently on Late Night With Seth Meyers , Hollander recalled the time his management company confused him with Tom Holland in an email, informing him that the Marvel star's box office bonus had been mistakenly sent to the British actor.

“My company’s finance people were very confused. We had to work with an agent for a short time to confirm the mistake. And it was a terrible moment,” Hollander told Meyers in his signature witty voice. “I went to see a friend who was doing a play in England. At the time, I was sitting in front of an audience for a show on the BBC with a budget of $30,000. I checked and there was an email from the company that said, ‘First box office bonus payment for Avengers: Infinity War . ’ I thought I had never been in this movie,” he said.

"It's an incredible amount of money. It's not Tom Holland's salary at all, it's his first seven-figure box office bonus," Hollander continued.

Although familiar with Hollywood blockbusters like Pirates of the Caribbean and Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation , Hollander knows he's not Tom Holland, who is expected to return to the MCU this year for the fourth Spider-Man film.

Marvel has been largely quiet about what's next for Tom Holland in the MCU. Tom Holland said at a press conference last year that he would only return to Spider-Man 4 if the team could do his role justice.

"We're actively engaged in conversations about what my character would look like in the fourth outing. We need to find a different way to do justice to the character, that's the thing. I feel very fortunate that we've been able to work together on a series that's gotten better and better with each film, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect the legacy of Spider-Man ," Tom Holland told reporters.
