Lecturers working at universities with revenue of 1,000 billion VND or more have income from many sources such as: salary, teaching activities, scientific research, bonuses... depending on qualifications, academic titles, and working time.

According to the 2025 lecturer recruitment announcement of the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) , the school is looking for candidates with a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering; Mechatronics or equivalent or higher; able to teach and research in English; foreign language proficiency from B or higher; able to research, publish international scientific articles, preside over scientific research topics at all levels...

The school informed that the average reference income for PhD lecturers working for less than 3 years is 35 million VND/month; over 3 years is 45 million VND/month including salary according to job position, benefits, year-end bonus.

For associate professors and professors, salaries according to job position are 42.5 million and 47.5 million VND/month. The average reference income is about 85 million VND/month.

In addition to the teaching position, the school also recruits teaching assistants with bachelor and master degree candidates. The average salary, position salary, and benefits are over 16 million VND/month, not including year-end bonuses.

According to the school leaders, this is the first time the school has made public the income of its lecturers. The school strives to pay high salaries to attract and retain talented people. The school prioritizes recruiting lecturers.

Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is the only member school of Ho Chi Minh City National University in the group of "trillion-dollar" universities.

Total revenue in 2024 of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is 1,184 billion VND. Of which, revenue from education and training is 1,054 billion VND. Tuition fees account for 873 billion VND, the rest comes from contracts, sponsorships and other sources.

According to Van Lang University 's talent compensation policy, the school commits to a minimum income of 350 million VND/year for lecturers with a doctorate degree.

In some cases, the school supports up to 300 million VND in doctoral training costs.

Bonus up to 350 million VND/year for lecturers and researchers with scientific articles published in prestigious WoS/Scopus journals.

Van Lang University's total revenue in 2024 (up to June 2025) is expected to reach more than VND 2,600 billion, an increase of VND 80 billion compared to the previous year.

According to the announcement on remuneration at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics , the reference income for lecturers with master's degrees is from 20 to 35 million VND/month; PhD from 25 to 40 million VND/month, associate professor from 45 to 65 million VND/month, professor from 50 to 70 million VND/month depending on the number of years of work.

Reference income includes salary, school income, allowances, benefits, Tet bonus, remuneration from teaching/research activities.

Successful candidates with a doctorate degree, graduated from prestigious universities, and commit to a long-term employment contract with the school (at least 12 years from the date of completion of the internship) will receive an initial sponsorship of 100 million VND.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics is the public educational institution with the highest revenue in the country, with total revenue in 2024 reaching 1,887 billion VND. Of the 1,343 billion VND revenue from education and training, tuition fees account for 1,281 billion VND, the rest is from contracts, state and external funding; other income is 61 billion VND.

At the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, in recent years, the average income of associate professors has reached more than 60 million VND/month, and that of PhDs is over 30 million VND/month. Depending on position and seniority, some people have incomes 2-5 times higher than the above figures…

The total revenue of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education in 2024 is 1,120 billion. Of which, tuition fees account for 976 billion, funding from the budget and outside is only 13 billion. Revenue from scientific research and technology transfer alone is 46 billion; revenue from other sources is 67 billion.

The announcement of the financial report and income for the year 2024-2025 of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade shows that the average income of staff, lecturers and employees reaches 32.5 million VND/month.

It is known that at present, the highest income of a PhD at the school is over 85 million VND/month.

To attract PhDs, the school has a policy of ensuring a minimum income of 40 million VND/month for lecturers with PhDs. If the actual income is below the threshold, the school will multiply the coefficient to compensate.

According to the school's report, in 2024, the total revenue of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade will reach 1,008.8 billion VND, officially joining the group of universities with revenue of over a thousand billion VND/year. It is expected that in 2025, the total revenue of the school will increase to 1,136.6 billion VND.

Over the years, the National Economics University has applied a salary model based on job position and continues to maintain the basic salary system to ensure compliance with regulations.

The university is paying the starting salary for a master's degree lecturer at 14 million VND, a doctorate at 20 million VND, an associate professor at 25 million VND and a professor at 30 million VND.

In addition, each staff and lecturer will receive an additional salary based on the coefficient salary scale, which is included in the monthly main income.

The National Economics University has not yet made public its finances for 2024. In 2023, the school's total revenue was 1,408 billion VND, of which tuition fees were 1,014 billion VND.

According to the latest report from the Ministry of Education and Training, the country currently has about 94,000 university lecturers, of which 33,500 are PhDs, professors, and associate professors, accounting for 35% of the total, the highest rate ever.
