The 5th Binh Ca Battalion was established in 1971 with approximately 1,000 new recruits organized into four companies. On the morning of May 20, 1971, at Ta Lanh beach (now Nguyen Tat Thanh Square), the soldiers took an oath before the Party Committee, the government, and the people of all ethnic groups in the province, expressing their determination to go to war and be ready to sacrifice themselves for the cause of liberating the South and unifying the country. During the fierce years of war, the officers and soldiers of the 5th Binh Ca Battalion fought bravely on many battlefields, achieving many victories and contributing to the overall victory of the nation. Many comrades heroically sacrificed their lives, leaving behind deep sorrow and gratitude for their homeland and country.
The liaison committee of the 5th Binh Ca Battalion was established in 1999 with nearly 100 members to connect comrades, encourage each other in life, and carry out charitable activities to honor martyrs and their families. Currently, the liaison committee has 51 members. At the meeting, delegates recalled the glorious traditions of the 5th Binh Ca Battalion, remembered the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland; and encouraged their descendants to continue to uphold the revolutionary tradition and build a more prosperous homeland.
