Xhaka undergoes medical at Sunderland
According to Sky Sports, Granit Xhaka is very close to returning to the Premier League. The former Arsenal midfielder has boarded a private jet to England to undergo a medical examination, preparing to sign a 3-year contract with Sunderland.
To own the 32-year-old star, the new team of the Premier League agreed to pay Bayer Leverkusen a fee of 15 million euros (about 16.3 million USD), with 5 million euros (5.4 million USD) in additional fees. Xhaka will be the 6th new player to arrive at The Light Stadium this summer, after Enzo Le Fée, Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Chemsdine Talbi and Simon Adingra. Sunderland's total transfer spending has reached 129 million euros (about 140 million USD).
PSG sells 7 stars
According to L'Équipe, PSG is carrying out a large-scale squad purge to reduce the salary fund and aim to conquer Europe. Up to 7 names are being put on the market including: Marco Asensio, Randal Kolo Muani, Milan Skriniar, Carlos Soler, Nordi Mukiele, Ilyes Housni and Renato Sanches.
These players are not in coach Luis Enrique's plans for the 2024/25 season. Fenerbahce are said to be interested in Asensio and Skriniar, while Kolo Muani is a target for Juventus and Man United.
Leeds in danger of losing top target
According to Sky Sports, Marseille have reached an agreement to sign striker Igor Paixao from Feyenoord for a fee of 32.25 million euros (about 35 million USD), excluding add-ons. If Leeds United – a close pursuer – do not raise their price, the deal will be completed soon.
Paixao is also leaning towards a move to Marseille to play in the Champions League. The 25-year-old striker has scored 32 goals in 93 matches in the Dutch league.
Newcastle want to recruit Ramsdale
According to The Athletic, Newcastle have submitted a loan offer for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton, with an option to buy for €21 million ($22.8 million) at the end of the season. The St. James' Park team has reached a personal agreement with the 27-year-old goalkeeper's representative.
Previously, Newcastle targeted James Trafford (Burnley), but the plan fell through when Man City activated the buy-back clause for 31 million euros (33.6 million USD).
Man United loan young talent
Manchester United have agreed to let 21-year-old goalkeeper Radek Vitek join Bristol City on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season. The Old Trafford club had previously extended Vitek's contract until the summer of 2028.
Vitek has played for Accrington Stanley and Blau-Weiss Linz (Austria) on loan, but has not made any official appearances for the Man United first team.
Pep Guardiola hints at long-term coaching hiatus
Speaking to GQ magazine (Spain), coach Pep Guardiola said he might take a long break from coaching after leaving Man City: "It could be one, two, three, or 10 to 15 years of rest - I will definitely do that."
Since leading Man City (2016), Guardiola has won a total of 17 major and minor titles, including 6 Premier League titles and 1 Champions League. His current contract runs until the summer of 2027.
Tottenham negotiate to buy Rodrygo
According to Daily Mail, Tottenham has officially entered the race to recruit Rodrygo from Real Madrid. The London team has made initial contact with the Spanish Royal team to promote the deal.
Rodrygo is no longer a priority choice under new coach Xabi Alonso and is said to be ready to leave in order to find a place at the 2026 World Cup. In addition to Tottenham, Liverpool is also a team closely following the Brazilian striker.
