Thanks to the rapid recovery and the continuous opening of new international flight routes, Phu Quoc (An Giang) tourism has quickly surpassed its annual plan. In the first 11 months of 2025, the island welcomed nearly 7.6 million visitors (a 35.2% increase compared to the same period last year), officially exceeding the annual plan by 4.7% (7.25 million visitors).
Foreign visitors alone reached 1.86 million, an increase of 93.6%, far exceeding the target by 58.5%. For the whole year of 2025, Phu Quoc is estimated to welcome 8.14 million visitors, with total revenue of 43,879 billion VND , an increase of 104% compared to 2024.
Speaking to Tri Thức - Znews , Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dieu, Director of Dong Noi Phu Quoc Tourism Company, said that the inbound market (international tourists to Vietnam) in 2025-2026 on the island will experience "unprecedented strong growth," especially during the peak season at the end of the year.
"In December and January, there are almost no rooms left for large groups. Hotels are nearly fully booked, and businesses have to find ways to reserve rooms for their guests," Ms. Dieu shared.
While summer was previously dominated by domestic tourists, 2025 will see the overwhelming dominance of the Asian market, especially in the long-stay resort segment, completely replacing the old picture.

This growth stems from several factors: warm, sunny weather suitable for Russian, Korean, and Eastern European winter visitors; a 30-day visa-free policy; and, most notably, an expanding network of direct flights.
Currently, international tourists visiting Phu Quoc come from more than 150 countries and territories. Direct flights connect the island with Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, along with charter flights from Greece, Dubai, Uzbekistan, Singapore, India, and Russia.
According to Agoda, searches for Phu Quoc increased by 266% compared to 2024, helping the island continue to be recognized as the most popular destination in 2025.
This year, Phu Quoc has consistently appeared on international rankings such as Top 3 most amazing islands in Asia in 2025 ( Condé Nast Traveler ), Second most beautiful island in the world ( Travel + Leisure) , Top best destinations in Asia ( DestinAsian) , Top 5 fastest growing destinations in Southeast Asia ( Travel Off Path ).
In late October, CNBC (USA) cited the Unpack' 26 - The Trends in Travel report by Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo, stating that Phu Quoc ranked 4th in the top 10 most trending destinations in the world in 2026, with a 53% increase in searches – a figure demonstrating the island's strong appeal on the international travel map. Phu Quoc is also the only Southeast Asian representative to be included in this ranking.
