The Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union and the local government of Tan Khanh Trung commune have just started building a “Red Scarf House” for a disadvantaged child, Nguyen Tran Anh Thu. The “Red Scarf House” project worth 60 million VND was initiated and implemented by the Provincial Youth Union to support disadvantaged students.

At the ceremony, the leaders of Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union and Tan Khanh Trung Commune Party Committee visited, encouraged and hoped that the house would soon be completed, becoming a solid home to help Anh Thu and her family stabilize their lives, so that she can continue to strive to overcome difficulties, study well and be obedient.
Anh Thu's family is in a difficult situation, with 5 members including her parents and 3 siblings. Thu's oldest brother is preparing to go to university, the middle one is in grade 10, preparing to go to grade 11 and Anh Thu is in grade 1. The family only has 1 hectare of rice field (1,000m2), the whole family depends on the income from her parents' hired labor. Every day, her father works as a porter at the rice drying kiln; and her mother does whatever jobs are hired locally, such as gardening, farming, with an unstable income.
Ms. Duong Thi Kim Chung (Thu's mother) said that her life as a hired worker, working day by day to earn rice and trying to save money to raise her children to study, so the house built more than ten years ago is now degraded, leaking everywhere when it rains, but she cannot afford to rebuild it. "Thanks to the Provincial Change Council and benefactors supporting a new, spacious and intact house, my husband and I are very happy. The house helps my family settle down, feel secure in doing business to escape poverty," Ms. Kim Chung happily said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Lam - Secretary of the Party Committee of Tan Khanh Trung commune said that the "Red Scarf House" project is not only a material gift, but also a great source of spiritual encouragement, spreading the message of love and community responsibility of Dong Thap children in the journey of building beautiful dreams together.

On July 18, the Standing Committee of Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union and the local government of Tan Thoi commune also handed over the Great Solidarity House to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh to help her settle down and escape poverty.
The new, spacious house was presented by Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union, local authorities and benefactors to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh in Tan Thanh Hamlet, Tan Thoi Commune (Dong Thap), who is also a special case of housing difficulties in the locality.
The newly built Great Unity House has an area of 60m2, solid with brick walls, durable corrugated iron roof and clean cement floor. The total construction cost is 100 million VND. Of which, Tien Giang Business Club in Ho Chi Minh City supported 50 million VND, the rest was contributed by Ms. Anh's family and relatives.
This project started construction in June 2025. After more than a month of construction, the house was completed, helping Ms. Anh's family settle down. This is also an activity in response to the project of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025.
Previously, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh’s life was always plagued by worries about housing. Her family’s old house had seriously deteriorated after many years of use, with damp ground, rotten wooden walls, a leaky thatched roof and crooked pillars, no longer ensuring safety or minimum living conditions. For Ms. Anh, having a solid, sturdy home was a long-standing dream.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union, said that this activity clearly demonstrates the pioneering and voluntary role of Dong Thap youth in caring for people in difficult circumstances; at the same time, it spreads profound human values for people in difficult circumstances. “With this new home, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh will have a more stable and secure life. Moreover, it is also the motivation for her to overcome difficulties and welcome joy and happiness in life,” Mr. Minh shared.
