On June 9th, the Cross-Border E-commerce Conference, themed "Asian Excellence, Global Breakthrough," jointly organized by Amazon Global Selling and the Vietnam E-commerce & Digital Economy Agency (iDEA) – under the Ministry of Industry and Trade – opened in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the report “Local Sellers, Global Consumers 2022: Seizing Export Opportunities Through E-commerce in Vietnam,” conducted by Access Partnership, business-to-consumer (B2C) retail exports via e-commerce will significantly contribute to the Vietnamese economy, with the potential to reach a value of VND 296.3 trillion by 2027 if micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) accelerate the adoption of e-commerce for exporting products and services. In 2022, Vietnam's B2C e-commerce exports reached VND 80.7 trillion, ranking 7th among Vietnam's export types.
"Asian Excellence, Global Breakthrough" is an event featuring a series of activities including an XBG e-commerce conference to share the latest updates on the e-commerce industry and introduce successful Amazon sellers from countries in the region such as South Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam.
Furthermore, to provide Vietnamese authorities, policymakers, and businesses with information for an objective view of e-commerce export trends, Amazon Global Selling shared some summaries drawn from the report "Local Sellers, Global Consumers 2022: Seizing Export Opportunities Through E-commerce in Vietnam," conducted by the consulting firm Access Partnership. The report is based on research from 2021 and adjusts estimates of e-commerce export volume in Vietnam up to 2027. The report also provides in-depth information from Vietnamese MSMEs on current and future e-commerce participation levels, key export countries overseas, and introduces potential policy references that could help expand Vietnam's e-commerce industry.
The XBG E-commerce Conference 2023 aims to welcome 1,000 MSMEs, equipping them with the information, knowledge, and resources to seize cross-border trade opportunities, expand their customer base, and develop global businesses. The event is designed with three main activities: updating the latest trends and information in the industry; connecting e-commerce service providers with the participation of 14 service providers from key sectors in online export; and a series of panel discussions with successful sellers from Asia to share experiences and practical lessons on expanding globally and building global brands.
Mr. Gijae Seong, Managing Director of Amazon Global Selling Vietnam, shared: “The XBG e-commerce conference, as well as the results from the report, are important sources of information for Amazon Global Selling to better understand and listen to the voices of local businesses, thereby understanding the challenges that Vietnamese businesses are facing. In collaboration with government agencies, we strive to expand our reach to more Vietnamese businesses, providing them with comprehensive and effective support to enhance their readiness for XBG e-commerce. In addition, Amazon will continue to connect with industry service providers, understanding the aspects businesses need support to help them succeed in reaching global customers.”
