Therefore, on April 26, the US Department of Justice requested the court to continue detaining the suspect before bringing the case to trial, on charges related to the illegal retention and transfer of classified defense documents.
In court filings, federal prosecutors said the information Jack Teixeira allegedly released “far exceeds” what is known and that releasing the suspect could pose a serious threat to national security.
"The defendant knew where the information was. Jack Teixeira knew how to access it. And based on his advanced information technology skills, Jack Teixeira likely knew how to disseminate that information without attracting attention," the federal prosecutor's filing states.

ABC News quoted federal prosecutors as saying: "The defendant is a flight risk. The defendant now faces 25 years, the evidence against Jack Teixeira is mounting, the defendant still has access to a trove of highly valuable classified information. Hostile nations may offer Jack Teixeira safe harbor and attempt to facilitate his escape."
Investigators are still trying to determine whether Jack Teixeira retained any physical or digital copies of classified information, including data that has not yet been made public.
In describing Jack Teixeira as a danger to the community, prosecutors wrote that the suspect repeatedly "discussed details of violence and murder" on the online messaging platform Discord.
According to the BBC , prosecutors cited evidence that in February, Jack Teixeira told someone that he wanted to turn a pickup truck into an "assassination" truck.
Jack Teixeira is currently in custody awaiting a further hearing and has not yet entered a plea. Prosecutors said in the filing that Jack Teixeira’s attorneys said they would urge the judge to release him and send him to his father’s home.
However, according to the AP news agency, by the end of April 26, Jack Teixeira's lawyers had not yet submitted documents requesting the release of the detainee.

Prosecutors say Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old member of the US Air National Guard, leaked classified documents that he allegedly shared with a gaming group on the online messaging platform Discord.
Jack Teixeira was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at his home in Massachusetts on April 13 and charged with violating the Espionage Act.
In a related development, on April 26, the US Air Force suspended the duties of two commanders at the National Guard unit of the 102nd Intelligence Unit, where Jack Teixeira served.
A US Air Force spokesman did not name the two suspended commanders, and said they were temporarily without access to classified information during the investigation.
