TKV competes to complete the third quarter plan

The third quarter is usually the most difficult time for the coal and mineral mining industry, mainly due to objective factors such as extreme weather and reduced coal consumption for power generation. However, with the miner's tradition of "Ready to face and unite to overcome all difficulties", TKV and its member units are actively competing in production, creating momentum to successfully achieve the goals of the whole year 2025.

With drastic solutions in direction and management, along with the spirit of overcoming difficulties and creativity of the staff and workers, in the first 6 months of the year, Mining Geology Joint Stock Company has made a breakthrough in completing and exceeding many production and business plan targets. The unit has constructed a total of 109 boreholes. The boreholes constructed in the second quarter always achieved high productivity, with the surface drilling team reaching 477m/month, and the underground drilling team reaching 517m/month.

Typically, on June 18, the Company held the groundbreaking ceremony for the GK289 borehole under the 2025 exploration and survey cooperation project between the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) and the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC). The borehole has an estimated depth of 660m, serving the purpose of researching coal seams from seam 13 to seam 9. Drilling Team 8 was assigned to construct the borehole with 12 people, arranged in 3 continuous shifts.

According to team leader Nguyen Van Muoi, the construction unit worked under difficult conditions because the drill bit passed through the geological strata of the mined area, cracked soil and rock... With the attention and regular direction of the Company's leaders, and the close coordination of the Hon Gai Coal Company, the drilling team followed the technical design of the GK289 borehole, complied with the technical procedures and regulations, and was determined to surpass the schedule, ensuring safety and quality.

In the third quarter and the last months of the year, the Company expects to have enough volume for construction with 28,591m of drilling, including 27,491m of surface drilling and 1,100m of underground drilling. Surveying, chemical testing, and geophysics are implemented according to signed contracts. The Company focuses on construction to ensure the progress of drilling projects and works; establish a detailed construction schedule for the remaining volume of plans and projects in 2025, especially prioritizing the construction of works under the Suoi Lai and Ha Rang projects to ensure completion on schedule, striving to exceed the planned targets for the third quarter as well as the whole year of 2025.

Recently, heavy rain and storm No. 3 (Wipha) have affected the production of units in the Group. However, the main targets of the units have still been completed and exceeded the plan, such as: Raw coal production reached 2.85 million tons, equal to 100% of the monthly plan (15/18 units completed the plan), accumulated 7 months reached 63% of the yearly plan; tunnel digging reached 23,920m, equal to 101.1% of the monthly plan, accumulated 7 months reached 58.9% of the yearly plan; coal consumption reached 2.86 million tons, equal to 79.6% of the monthly plan...

Units have also proactively implemented storm and flood prevention plans, contributing to ensuring production safety, protecting the environment and business assets. Typically, Da Bac Logistics Company has focused resources on implementing key disaster prevention projects, such as: Dredging coal settling tanks at station A, contributing to improving wastewater treatment efficiency, minimizing the risk of flow blockage during heavy rains, and also helping to improve environmental quality in the area. The company has also actively dredged drainage ditches and settling pits at the scene areas, ensuring rapid drainage during the storm and flood season, minimizing the risk of landslides and flooding; purchasing supplies and spare equipment for PCTT-TKCN work.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam, Deputy General Director of TKV, said: The third quarter is the peak of the rainy season, the weather is erratic, and extreme weather events are likely to occur. Therefore, the Group's leaders require units to focus on coal production and consumption, strictly implement operational discipline; continue to be proactive, strengthen measures to respond to complicated weather developments, storms, floods, landslides, maintain 24/7 vigilance at the Production Control Center of the units, cover and protect coal warehouses, ensure safety during the rainy season. At the same time, be flexible in directing and operating production, prepare enough types of coal, meet market consumption, complete the targets of the August plan as well as the third quarter.
