According to The Bangkok Insight, on May 10, the final trial of the case of actress Tangmo Nida (Tangmo Pataratida) who died on the Chao Phraya River took place in Thailand.

The two defendants, Tanuphat Lertthaweewit (Hiso Por) and Paiboon Treekanchananan (Robert), were both sentenced for negligence causing the death of Tangmo Nida. Because the defendants confessed their guilt and compensated the victim's family, the court reduced their sentences by half compared to the original.
Specifically, Por was sentenced to 2 years and 9 months in prison, suspended for 3 years, compensated the victim's family 64,000 baht (about 45 million VND) and had to do community service. Hiso Por was in charge of the boat at the time of the Tangmo Nida accident.
Through investigation, police determined that Hiso Por used an expired boat license, deviated from the river area designated in the license, and acted negligently causing the death of another person.
Robert was sentenced to 2 years and 2 months in prison, suspended for 3 years, and fined 54,000 baht (about 37.5 million VND).
According to Robert's statement to the police, he tried to operate the motorboat while he had no experience, and caused an accident for Tangmo Nida. The actress fell into the river when he accidentally accelerated, causing the vehicle to jerk and sway.
After Tangmo Nida passed away, her biological mother adopted the two defendants Robert and Hiso Por.
Thaipost added that Ms. Panida Sirayuthnothin - Tangmo Nida's biological mother also attended the trial. After the verdict was announced, she held the hands of the two defendants and left the courtroom smiling.
"I am very satisfied with this court's decision. I believe that today's decision comes from my daughter's conversion to the judge, and justice will finally be served," said Ms. Panida.
The mother of the late actress of "The Fallen Leaf" added that she had forgiven and no longer blamed the two defendants. After Tangmo Nida passed away unexpectedly, Robert and Hiso Por took care of her as their own daughter.
Tangmo went for a walk on the Chao Phraya River with 5 friends and fell off the boat into the river and went missing on the evening of February 24, 2022. After 38 hours of searching, the police found the actress's body floating in the middle of the river, 50m from the scene of the accident.
Preliminary autopsy results showed that Tangmo died of drowning, suffocation and had a large amount of sand in his lungs.
Friends who were on the boat with Tangmo during the trip were repeatedly summoned by the prosecution to give statements, accepting charges such as negligent homicide and lying in the process of providing clues to the police.
In addition to the two defendants Robert and Hiso Por, other defendants related to Tangmo's death are still awaiting sentencing.
