To facilitate the exam, Hanoi has arranged 224 examination centers with more than 5,300 official examination rooms and nearly 18,000 officials, teachers, and staff participating in the organization.
At the examination sites, the police, traffic police, volunteer youth, and local authorities worked closely together to ensure security, manage traffic flow, and support candidates.

This year, Hanoi has recorded a record high number of candidates taking the entrance exam for 10th grade.
One of the highlights of this year's exam season is that many localities have arranged free rest areas for parents. Cultural centers and community halls are open with air conditioning and free drinking water, providing parents with a place to relax while waiting for their children to finish the exams.
Many parents said that the thorough preparations by local authorities made them feel more at ease during the days they spent accompanying their children through this important exam.
The Literature exam was emotionally rich and conveyed a humanistic message.
The first exam took place on the morning of May 30th with the Literature test.
The main text chosen was the poem "Moon in the Forest and the Children" by poet Thanh Thảo. The exam was considered by many teachers to be relatable, humane, and highly educational.

Many candidates said the questions were not too surprising, and the open-ended nature of the essay allowed them to easily express their personal thoughts and feelings.
Many parents shared their relief when their children emerged from the exam room in a relaxed mood after the first subject.
The English exam is becoming more difficult, increasing the level of differentiation among students.
Later that afternoon, the candidates continued with the English exam, which lasted 60 minutes.
The exam retained the familiar 40-question multiple-choice format but was assessed as more difficult than the previous year. The questions focused on testing language proficiency, vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension skills.

Many candidates commented that the vocabulary and reading comprehension sections showed a clearer differentiation, requiring the ability to apply knowledge rather than rote memorization.
According to teachers, the exam can effectively differentiate students, while the number of papers achieving perfect scores is not expected to be as high as last year.
The math exam closely follows the new curriculum and plays a role in differentiating candidates.
The Math exam took place on the morning of May 31st, concluding this year's non-specialized 10th grade entrance exam.
The exam consisted of 5 major problems, covering a wide range of knowledge areas including algebra, probability and statistics, real-world problems, geometry, and optimization. Many teachers commented that the exam structure was stable and closely followed the direction of the 2018 General Education Program.
Most candidates found the initial questions relatively easy to approach, allowing students with average and above-average academic abilities to complete most of the exam. However, the geometry and optimization problems at the end of the exam were still challenging enough to differentiate between high-achieving and excellent students.

Nguyen Hoang Bao Chau, a candidate from Long Bien district, shared after completing the Math exam: "The exam questions weren't too different from what I studied. I was able to answer most of the basic questions and I'm quite satisfied with my performance."
Meanwhile, many candidates said that the final geometry question was the biggest challenge if they wanted to score 9 or higher.
Smiles after the exam and the journey of waiting for the results.
After two days of exams, what many parents talked about was not only the results but also the growth and maturity of their children throughout the preparation and participation in the exam.

"The most commendable thing is the effort put in throughout the past year. Regardless of the outcome, my child has tried their best," shared Ms. Khanh Linh, a parent whose child took the exam in Ha Dong.
The 2026 Hanoi public high school entrance exam has concluded safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations. While candidates applying to specialized schools will continue to take their specialized subject exams on June 1st, the majority of students in Hanoi can now temporarily set aside their stressful preparation months to await the results.
According to the plan, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores and admission standards for 10th grade in public schools from June 19 to 22 on the Department's electronic portal and the city's primary school enrollment portal.
