General Secretary and President To Lam chaired the second meeting of the Personnel Subcommittee of the 14th National Party Congress.

On August 21, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam, Head of the 14th Party Congress Personnel Subcommittee, chaired the second session to give opinions on: Draft Report summarizing the personnel work of the 13th Party Central Committee and developing directions for personnel work of the 14th Party Central Committee; Draft Report to the Politburo summarizing the personnel work of the 13th Party Central Committee and directions for personnel work of the 14th Party Central Committee; Draft directions for personnel work of the 14th Party Central Committee to submit to the Politburo for comments before soliciting comments from Party committees, organizations, and agencies as prescribed.

Attending the meeting were members of the Subcommittee, including: Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee Le Minh Hung; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Inspection Committee Tran Cam Tu. Also attending the meeting were members of the Working Group of the Personnel Subcommittee.

After the comrades in the Subcommittee discussed and gave their opinions on the content of the draft documents presented at the Session, in his concluding remarks, General Secretary and President To Lam, Head of the 14th Party Congress Personnel Subcommittee, stated that he would continue to thoroughly grasp and unify the understanding of the position, significance, role, and importance of personnel work and personnel preparation for the 14th Party Congress; inherit the thoughts and major and specific orientations of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, former Head of the Personnel Subcommittee at the First Session. In particular, it is necessary to take the results of the personnel summary of the 13th Party Central Committee as an important basis for building the personnel direction for the 14th Party Congress.

General Secretary and President To Lam requested that the personnel work for the Party Congress must be done urgently and carefully, ensuring solidarity and unity within the Party; and maintaining the Party's leadership and governing role. Personnel considered for selection must be cadres with leadership capacity, professional qualifications, and prestige among the people and the Party. The process of preparing personnel must ensure the direct, comprehensive, regular, continuous, close, and democratic leadership of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, Party committees, and Party organizations; and must put the interests of the Party, the nation, the people, and the people above all else.

Emphasizing that the tasks of the Personnel Subcommittee are especially important, difficult, and sensitive, together with the Document Subcommittee and other subcommittees, they will decide the success of the Congress. General Secretary and President To Lam reminded the Subcommittee members to continue to spend a lot of time directing and giving opinions on the important tasks of the Subcommittee.
