General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong requested innovation and better planning of the 14th Party Central Committee, Politburo , and Secretariat.
On the morning of February 7, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met and extended New Year greetings to leaders and former leaders of the Party and State on the occasion of the 2024 Lunar New Year and the 94th anniversary of the Party's founding.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that the Subcommittees preparing for the 14th Party Congress are actively implementing their tasks according to plan. The completion of leadership positions in Party and State agencies and the planning of the 14th Party Central Committee for the 2026-2031 term "are being carried out closely, thoroughly, and cautiously in accordance with regulations and procedures".
The General Secretary noted that agencies should continue to actively prepare for Party congresses at all levels and the 14th National Congress of the Party; innovate and improve the planning work for the 14th Party Central Committee, Politburo , and Secretariat for the 2026-2031 term; and draft documents to be submitted to the 14th Party Congress.
"Our immediate key task is to overcome all difficulties, remove obstacles, boost production and business; care for the lives of people, officers and soldiers on duty to protect the Fatherland in border areas, seas and islands; care for and create conditions for people to celebrate Tet happily and healthily," said the General Secretary.

According to him, the country has just passed through the year of Quy Mao 2023 with many important, vibrant and rich events. In the context of difficulties and challenges far beyond forecasts, Vietnam "achieved many important and quite comprehensive results and achievements".
In terms of economy, the macro economy is stable, inflation is controlled, growth is positive, completing 10/15 socio-economic development targets. The innovation index and national brand increase. Major balances of the economy are ensured. Culture and society have made breakthrough developments, social security is guaranteed, people's lives are improved. Prevention of corruption and negativity is promoted, achieving many outstanding results.
Socio-political stability, national defense and security are consolidated and enhanced, national sovereignty is maintained. Foreign affairs activities take place intensively and comprehensively, achieving many important and historic achievements, contributing to consolidating and enhancing Vietnam's role, potential, position and international prestige, "a highlight of 2023".

The General Secretary emphasized that the Year of the Dragon 2024 is of great significance in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the 5-year socio-economic development plan for 2021-2025, and towards the 14th National Party Congress with new confidence, spirit and motivation.
He called on the entire Party, people and army to be highly determined and have great will to complete the tasks of 2024. The focus is on striving to complete at the highest level the tasks of socio-economic development; stabilize the macro-economy, remove difficulties for production and business activities; develop culture, education, science and technology; ensure social security and welfare; strengthen administrative and judicial reforms, and prevent corruption...
On the same morning, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 in the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace.
