General Secretary To Lam shared that the Vietnam-Azerbaijan relationship was founded by President Ho Chi Minh's historic visit to Azerbaijan in 1959 and has been nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
President Ho Chi Minh soon recognized the role of the oil and gas industry in the cause of building and defending the Vietnamese Fatherland, as well as his concerns in searching for this valuable resource.
During his historic visit to Azerbaijan in 1959, President Ho Chi Minh said: “I think Vietnam has a sea, we will definitely have oil, but we are at war, so we cannot do it yet. I hope and believe that after Vietnam wins the resistance war, you comrades will help us find oil, exploit and process oil, and build an oil and gas industrial zone like Baku….”.
General Secretary To Lam acknowledged the support of friendly and fraternal countries, including Azerbaijan - a country with a world-famous tradition of oil and gas research and exploitation; and is also the cradle of training many leaders and high-quality workforce in the Vietnamese oil and gas industry.
The General Secretary affirmed that the inauguration of the memorial room on the occasion of the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh is a testament to the determination of the Vietnamese and Azerbaijani people in realizing his wish to build a strong and sustainable Vietnamese oil and gas industry, while deepening oil and gas cooperation between the two countries.
Representing the Government of Azerbaijan, the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan said that the construction of the memorial room is an important activity, a vivid affirmation of the long-standing friendship between the people of the two countries, and a testament to the strong historical relationship in the oil and gas industry.
He emphasized that the name and contributions of President Ho Chi Minh will always live forever in the hearts of the people of Azerbaijan.
The memorial room of President Ho Chi Minh with the Vietnam - Azerbaijan Oil and Gas Industry was built on the campus of the Azerbaijan National University of Oil and Industry. This is the place to display and preserve valuable images and documents about President Ho Chi Minh with Azerbaijan, images of mutual visits by the leaders of the two countries and President Ho Chi Minh with the Vietnam - Azerbaijan oil and gas industry.
The memorial room is a place to continue the history of Vietnam - Azerbaijan relations, especially cooperation in the oil and gas sector; a place for Vietnamese, Azerbaijani and other students to visit and learn about Vietnam's leaders.
Hope the two countries' cooperation will go into depth and substance
Also today, General Secretary To Lam met with Chairman of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova.
The Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament emphasized that the relationship between the two countries was built by President Ho Chi Minh and President Heida Aliyev and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
She expressed her delight at the development of bilateral relations and welcomed the two sides' adoption of a Joint Statement establishing a Strategic Partnership.
General Secretary To Lam said the visit demonstrates Vietnam's importance to its relations with Azerbaijan. The General Secretary hopes that the two countries' cooperation will be in-depth and substantive, commensurate with the good traditional friendship and potential.
The General Secretary appreciated the role of the Azerbaijani National Assembly in promoting cooperation between the two countries and hoped that the two sides would continue to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and make practical contributions to effectively implementing bilateral agreements.
At the same time, the General Secretary outlined cooperation orientations in implementing the Strategic Partnership, emphasizing the role of the two National Assemblies.
The Chairman of the Azerbaijani National Assembly reported to the General Secretary about the cooperation between the two parliaments, in which the Friendship Parliamentarians' Group is very active and closely coordinated.
She said that General Secretary To Lam's direction was comprehensive, profound and had a strategic vision, affirming that the Azerbaijani National Assembly fully supported it and would coordinate with the Vietnamese National Assembly to promote its implementation.
Appreciating the results of parliamentary cooperation, the two leaders emphasized the need to increase delegation exchanges at all levels, especially between specialized committees and friendship parliamentarian groups; and to increase contacts and exchanges between parliamentarians of the two countries, especially young and female parliamentarians.
The two countries also need to coordinate at multilateral parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), thereby expressing a common voice for peace, cooperation and sustainable development...
