General Secretary receives Head of the Central Committee's Foreign Affairs Commission of the Cambodian People's Party

This morning (October 18), at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received Mr. Prak Sokhonn, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), and Supreme Advisor to Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.

Mr. Prak Sokhonn expressed his joy at visiting Vietnam, thanked the General Secretary for his reception, and congratulated Vietnam on the important achievements it has made in recent times, especially in Party building, socio-economic development, expanding foreign relations and international integration, in which he highly appreciated the foreign policy and diplomacy of "Vietnam's bamboo tree".

Head of the Central Committee's External Relations Commission Prak Sokhonn believes that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Vietnamese people will continue to gain many new and greater achievements, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Highly appreciating and extremely excited about the increasingly developing Cambodia - Vietnam relationship in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the people of each country, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, Mr. Prak Sokhonn deeply thanked Vietnam for the great and valuable support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Cambodia in the cause of national liberation, saving the country and the Cambodian people from the genocide regime as well as in the cause of national construction and development today.

Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the CPP Foreign Affairs Committee emphasized the successful results and significance of the election of the 7th National Assembly in Cambodia, the establishment of a new Government, the consolidation of the Party and government apparatus, and the socio-economic development situation and implementation of Cambodia's foreign affairs.

Reporting to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the results of the talks between the two Central Foreign Affairs Commissions, the cooperation between the two parties and countries and the direction of cooperation in the coming time, Mr. Prak Sokhonn affirmed that Cambodia will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam to effectively implement the Treaties, Agreements, Agreements and Conclusions between the high-ranking leaders of the two parties and countries, and emphasized that no matter what position he holds, he will do his best to foster the further development of the Cambodia-Vietnam relationship.

These results demonstrate the people's support for the CPP, led by President Hun Sen, which has led the Cambodian people to maintain political stability, develop the economy and society, ensure national defense and security, and expand foreign relations. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam always supports the cause of building and developing Cambodia and believes that Cambodia will continue to achieve new, greater, and more comprehensive achievements in implementing the CPP Platform for the 2023-2028 period and the Strategy set forth by the 7th Government.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the historical tradition of solidarity, close ties and mutual assistance between the two Parties and States is a valuable asset, one of the most important factors and the greatest source of strength for the cause of national liberation and independence in the past as well as in the current cause of national protection, construction and development, and affirmed to work together to preserve and foster the Vietnam - Cambodia relationship to develop further.

The two parties have the same origin from the Indochinese Communist Party, and the two countries are brotherly neighbors. The Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people appreciate the cooperation and assistance of the Cambodian Party and people to the cause of national liberation and the construction and defense of the Vietnamese people.

The General Secretary shared his feelings and attachment to CPP President Hun Sen, the leaders of the Cambodian Party and State, his respect for Cambodia's culture and history, and his affection for the Cambodian people.

The General Secretary suggested that both sides effectively implement the contents of the Meeting between the two parties' senior leaders and the Meeting between the three leading comrades of the three parties of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos; continue to innovate the cooperation methods between the two parties to meet the requirements of the new situation. Accordingly, continue to consider political relations as the core of the overall orientation for the two countries' relations; consolidate the pillar of defense and security cooperation; strengthen cooperation in foreign affairs; create breakthroughs, improve the effectiveness of economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technological cooperation and promote people-to-people exchanges.
