
In his welcome speech, Finnish Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen affirmed that over the past decades, Finland and Vietnam have built a strong cooperative relationship based on mutual respect. The two countries have had diplomatic relations for more than 50 years, but economic and trade relations have really developed strongly in recent years. Vietnam is a dynamic market. Finnish businesses are proud to be active partners of Vietnam and have found a foothold in areas such as clean energy, digitalization, information technology, construction, machinery, maritime technology, water management, and logistics.
Mr. Matias Marttinen emphasized that he welcomes Vietnamese businesses to explore the Finnish market. Finland’s strengths lie in technological innovation and a human-centered approach to problem solving. Finnish businesses are known for their reliability, responsibility and high-quality solutions, and are eager to work closely with Vietnamese partners to create new business opportunities in many fields.
Affirming that Finland is ready to cooperate to bring the cooperative relationship to a new level, Mr. Matias Marttinen said that it is necessary to actively build a bridge between businesses and people of the two countries to explore new areas of cooperation that bring real value.
At the meeting, representatives of leading Finnish enterprises in the fields of circular economy, industry-energy, technology-services-infrastructure introduced their capabilities, shared cooperation ideas, projects that have been, are and will be implemented in Vietnam and expressed their desire to deepen trade relations with Vietnam. Business representatives also proposed a number of solutions to open up new cooperation spaces, in line with the development trends of the times and the strategic interests of both countries.
Moved by the presence and open exchanges of leaders of leading Finnish corporations, General Secretary To Lam said that within the framework of this visit, the relationship between the two countries has been upgraded to the level of Strategic Partnership - the result of many years of close cooperation and mutual understanding, especially in the context of the volatile international situation. This is a great opportunity to promote economic, trade and investment relations, which are important pillars in bilateral cooperation, to new heights.
The General Secretary acknowledged the responsible and dedicated comments of business representatives and highly appreciated the spirit of cooperation, goodwill, strategic vision and belief in the development prospects of Vietnam-Finland relations of Finnish businesses.
The General Secretary emphasized that one can clearly feel the positive energy, innovative spirit and deep interest of Finnish enterprises - enterprises with leading European technology, management and social responsibility for the Vietnamese market - a young, dynamic and deeply integrated economy. The proposals raised not only demonstrate a long-term commitment to the Vietnamese market and the region, but also open up new spaces for cooperation.
Affirming that economic-investment-trade cooperation has always been a solid pillar and the main driving force for bilateral relations, the General Secretary shared that Vietnam is continuing to promote a high-quality development strategy, focusing on science, technology, green economy, digital transformation and innovation; is expanding its market with international partners; constantly improving the investment environment and protecting the legitimate rights of foreign investors; promoting breakthrough, superior, flexible and more favorable policies. The meeting with typical enterprises is an important milestone in the process of strengthening economic-trade relations between the two countries.
Through the exchange, the two sides noted many new cooperation opportunities in the fields of: industry - renewable energy, aiming at carbon neutrality; technology - services - infrastructure, creating new growth momentum for the economy and improving the sustainable quality of life for people; especially the proposals of Finnish enterprises in the field of circular economy - a development model that Vietnam is determined to strongly promote.
The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam is committed to continuing to strongly improve the investment and business environment, building a dynamic and transparent market economy, with innovation as the driving force and people at the center; encouraging Finnish enterprises to invest long-term and sustainably; transfer advanced technology; cooperate in research and development; and participate in Vietnam's innovation ecosystem.
Believing that businesses are the vibrant bridge that deepens the Vietnam-Finland cooperation relationship, the General Secretary suggested that the business communities of the two countries continue to strengthen exchanges, connections, investments and cooperation in areas where both sides have similar strengths and needs, such as renewable energy, clean industry, environmental technology, forest resource management, education, science-technology and innovation. The two governments, ministries, branches and localities, within their functions and tasks, continue to coordinate closely and provide more practical support to the business community; at the same time, create an open, stable and transparent investment environment.
At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam and Finnish representatives witnessed the exchange of cooperation agreements between the two countries, including: A memorandum of understanding between the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) and ICEYE Group (in Finland) in research and development of earth observation satellite technology.
Memorandum of Understanding between the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) and Nokia Group (in Finland), cooperation in digital transformation, development of new generation telecommunications infrastructure in Vietnam, accelerating the application of 5G/6G, Open RAN, AI, Data Center.
Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Nokia Group (in Finland), cooperation in the field of developing VNPT's wireless access network in the Hanoi area, border provinces and the South for the period 2025-2026.
Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and F-Secure Group (in Finland), strategic cooperation in protecting people from cyber attacks, fighting online fraud and expanding cooperation opportunities to the Asia-Pacific market.
Memorandum of Understanding between Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company and Airways Aviation Group (in Finland), an agreement to develop international aviation resources, promoting new cooperation between Vietnam and Finland. The two sides will implement pilot training programs in Europe - specialized training programs to meet the demand for high-quality international human resources to serve the new-generation airline's global flight network expansion strategy.
On the same afternoon, General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited the Experience Center - Nokia Company Headquarters in Finland.
