The upgraded version of Vietnam's best-selling sedan retains the same engine, changes the design and adds equipment, priced at 479-592 million VND.
On May 10, Toyota Vietnam launched the new Vios for the domestic market.
The company sells 3 versions:
Toyota Vios version | New price | Increase/decrease |
E MT (3 airbags) | 479 | -10 |
EM CVT (3 airbags) | 528 | -14 |
G CVT (7 airbags) | 592 | - |
* Unit: million VND/Pearl white versions increase price by 8 million
Compared to its predecessor, the 2023 Toyota Vios has removed the 7-airbag E MT and E CVT versions, leaving only the 3-airbag versions, with prices reduced by 10 million and 14 million VND respectively. The G CVT version remains the same, with no price increase. The G-RS version, which is not very popular, has also stopped being distributed.
In terms of design, the new Toyota Vios has a more balanced and square front end. LED headlights are standard equipment, creating a strong shape. The front bumper and grille are also redesigned but are quite messy compared to the old version.
Compared to the previous version , the company changed the wheel design, while the size is still 15 inches. There is no difference in the taillights on the new version. The rear bumper with reflective strip has been refined.
In terms of interior, the 2023 Vios does not change much in the arrangement of details. The company upgraded the screen from 7 inches to 9 inches, the steering wheel added paddle shifters for the G version. The two lower versions added USB charging ports for the rear seats.
The engine of the new Toyota Vios still maintains the 1.5 liter type, 107 horsepower capacity, 140 Nm torque. 5-speed manual transmission or CVT options.
Toyota Vios 2023 now has two new safety features in the TSS package: forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and these two new features are added to the G version.
The new improvements on the 2023 version promise to help Vios maintain its position as the best-selling car in the segment. A representative of Toyota Vietnam also said that Vios 2023 is not affected by Daihatsu's recent safety testing incident.
Vios 2023 was launched in the context of the Vietnamese auto market being much less vibrant than the same period last year. Sales of Toyota's flagship model in the first 3 months of 2023 are also falling sharply, more than 50% compared to the same period in 2022.
Increasing equipment but keeping the same price in the highest G version and reducing the price from 10 million to 14 million in the E version (MT and CVT) is something that is rarely seen in Toyota products. The selling price from 479-592 million VND of Vios 2023 is still in the middle with two main competitors: Hyundai Accent (426-542 million VND) and Honda City (529-599 million VND).
