Can Tho City: Heavy rain, many roads flooded

On the afternoon of May 13, a heavy rain that lasted over a large area caused many roads in the center of Can Tho City to be severely flooded, affecting people's lives and traffic.

The rain on the afternoon of May 13 flooded many inner-city roads in Ninh Kieu district.

According to the Can Tho City Hydrometeorological Station, thunderstorms occurred over a large area, not only in Can Tho but also spread to neighboring provinces such as An Giang , Dong Thap and Vinh Long. In Can Tho City alone, many areas in Binh Thuy, O Mon and Ninh Kieu districts recorded widespread rainfall of 5 - 10mm, with some places experiencing heavy rain of over 25mm/hour.

Heavy rain floods 30-4 street, causing difficulties for wholesalers

In Ninh Kieu district, heavy rain caused localized flooding on many main roads such as Cach Mang Thang Tam, 30 Thang 4 and 3 Thang 2, making it difficult for people and vehicles to move. According to records at the scene, water could not drain through the drainage system in time, leading to deep flooding in some sections.

People reported that although the rain did not last too long, due to the slow drainage system, after only about 20-30 minutes of heavy rain, the water rose, overflowed onto the sidewalks and flowed into houses in some low-lying areas.

Water swept away many trash cans onto 30-4 street, Ninh Kieu district.

Can Tho City Hydrometeorological Station warns: In the coming days, the weather continues to have the possibility of thunderstorms in the evening. During thunderstorms, special precautions should be taken against tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind, which can be dangerous to people and property.
